Thanks guys, I've tried out 2.2, but I've decided to rolled back to i810. Although xv video is now work again in 2.2, it is far, far to slow for my Eee PC (thanks to it defaults to EXA acceleration).

With i810 I can run Compiz Fuison and watch movie using xv output at the same time without any lag whatsoever, but with 2.2 everything (even youtube video!) slowdown to a crawl unless I turn off Compiz (newer is not always better it seems).

Toy can switch to XAA acceleration aswell.

Yes, but then the xv video output doesn't work, thus negate the reason why I use 2.2.0 in the first place.

Oh and, toy or not, you should try using one of these, damjan. I'm sure you'll love it. It can do almost everything a normal laptop can do: browse the web, word processing, play musics, movies, games, use Skype, etc. Hell, even Compiz Fusion on GNOME run like a dreams!

From my experience, there are only two thing that this thing cannot do: 3D games (or other 3D intensive softwares) and playing HD movie (not enough processing power, obviously).

Yes, it wasn't as 'powerful' as a 'real' laptop, but it never meant to be a laptop replacement. The Eee was design to be a light and portable and for that it success admirably. Carry around one of these thing is no more burden then carried around a copy of the Da Vinci Code (or your other paperback novel of choice) and considered how much it can do for its size, power and price (now down to around $300) I say that it's more than worth it.

Also, this machine have become a sort of my Linux poster boy to show to my friends and family as to how mature Linux have becomes. Believe me, after being dazzle by a Compiz Effect ('this thing can do that?') and see how versatile this machine is with Linux on it, they always leave with a new found respect in Linux (my father have been converted thanks to this unit).

I didn't even bother to check, 2.2 is much faster when I enable XAA again, thanks for this tip. However, Xv DID work with older versions of the driver and XAA, but doesn't work anymore with 2.2 when XAA is enabled.

Switching to i810 is not an option for me, it never worked well.

FWIW, although the EXA problem is easily solvable, I think you guys are right about the performance. I just switched back to i810 (after disposing of my experimental XFS install), and although glxgears is a little slower than before, BZFlag is much faster.
