Stripped things down even more.  Was running compiz fusion with xfce4, now running xcompmgr with openbox.  I think I like the simplicity smile

Kevin what is that calendar app? Is this done through conky?

Looks very nice! I would like that too tongue.

The calender program is called 'when'. And I simply set it up in .conkyrc with '${exec when}'.

I used to use when back in my gentoo days.. but there is a MUCH better calendar program out there called remind.  Even if you don't want the complexity of it, you should probably use it instead... It's devishly sexy.
