It's great! Very clean.

I think the header logo could be more sharp, it looks a bit blurry (specially on the text).

The new design looks very nice.

Re: The new site design is...

quite honestly the colors help define the pages. Makes it much more readable to me. I rely on that fact that sections are very well defined so that my eyes can just glance but still see the whole picture. The old site all sort of blended together. This new look definitely shows arches 'bleeding edge!' Thanks to all the hard work behind the scenes.

Re: The new site design is...

Maybe I'll get used to it after a few days, but here are a few issues I have:

* The link color is too light, especially on the gray and tan backgrounds. It should be darker or bolded like the old site.

* Now that the background of the site is pure white, the tan color of the boxes on the homepage does not make as much sense. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of the page either.

* The light blue bars above each forum post do not fit with the light and dark gray boxes of the post.

I might agree with that last point smile

me too, but I don't think the gray fits with the blue though. smile As I stated earlier the blue bars help define the site. Mulling those colors together would make the site unreadable IMHO. They need to contrast!

Anyway, someone wanna tell me how to change the icon in my bookmark for firefox3. Even if I change it using a different address and then edit that address to reflect the old bookmark(that I deleted) it still comes back as the old icon. WTF!!!! what folder do I need delete to get rid of that icon?

Re: The new site design is...

I like the overall color scheme but I think the new Logo is very one dimensional. It looks flat. To me, the old Logo looked much more 3-D therefore more modern.

I'll have to check the appearance on some other computers. Maybe my laptop doesn't show it's true apperance.

Personally I think that's a benefit of the new logo, not a detriment. If you want 3D, grab the SVG (http://www.archlinux.org/art) and model it in a 3D program.  This logo makes that easier than the previous one did.

Re: The new site design is...

I just love the new scheme. Everything that is changed by now just looks awesome.

Okay, some old parts don't quite fit to the colors, but I am really looking forward to see the changes when everything is done. Not only that the design seems to fit the KISS philosophy better and yet is elegant as hell but also the navigation integrates better in small browser windows. In AUR (which isn't changed by now) everything is messed up and it's quite annoying using a small browser window and vimperator. But the new layout is just sane!

edit: I especially like that not just the forum and the main homepage look the same but also bugs.archlinux.org and the wiki meet their appearance.

Really awesome. As always, I miss the quicksearch field in the right-top corner... But since it has been required several times, I guess that there is some technical reason why it can not be easily done.

Re: The new site design is...

I kept my mouth shut (for once) in the winning logo thread..... I wasn't convinced I was going to like it much.  Decided the logo didn't really matter that much to me anyway, as long as Arch Linux continued working great.....  but after seeing the logo in context, I must admit, I'm glad I didn't shoot my mouth off and say something I'd have to take back.  smile  because the new logo REALLY LOOKS GREAT !!!!!!  big_smile big_smile big_smile big_smile big_smile big_smile

I think it looks FANTASTIC, very professional, and aesthetically pleasing.

Agreed with the second point.. the tan boxes seem a little bit off.  Also the post number in the forums (grey against blue) is hard to read.
I love the new design though...  The new logo fits perfect in this new design.

I like it. The new logo is very cool and I enjoy the "flatness" of the site. Nice work.
