If it makes you feel any better - I have had [testing] enabled on 4 different arch machines for around 3 years with little or no hiccups. Not that I update hourly though - maybe once every day or two.
There *are* hiccups, sure, but it's never any deal breakers.

Just tried testing about 5 mins ago (long time user eh?)
No problems yet!
(well, I'm not sure if dbus is working but...)

I use sometimes testing, but in this period it tends to break many perl apps, and I have not been able to update them so that they work with the new perl in testing (in particular I have not been able to fix zim, where I take all my notes
)

I do use testing on my laptop (i686).
I do install some testing packages on my desktop (x86_64), but the repo is not activated in pacman.conf

zim is a package from the extra repo so submit a bug report.

Are you using x86_64? zim seems to work fine on i686 but segfaults on x86_64.

i686, it fails with:
/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/current/i686-linux-thread-multi/auto/Glib/Glib.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Tstack_sp_ptrThe bug number is 9450

I use testing since a few weeks, too. Not that I want it to break, but I enabled the repo to file bugs. So far it is going [way too] well. ![]()

Keep in mind that most devs use [testing] on their own machines, so they would not exactly be happy with broken stuff in the repo. The real issues tend to come up with exotic hardware and/or exotic configurations that we don't have so can't really foresee problems for.

i used testing for about a year until i did a clean install at the turn of the new year. haven't re-enabled it yet, but i might. i never encountered any big bugs, but then again i only update about once a week and usually not without checking the forums for issues first.

I have been using [testing] on my laptop (x86_64) for last few months.
Only problems I had was with libidn which was needed in earlier version by one program,
and nvidia lib32 packages, that were based on i686 extra repo, so needed different kernel module version.
And all of those were easy to fix. Testing works really nice, and for me it's mostly 'get new stuff faster' ![]()

Using testing since it gets kernel 2.6.24. I just had to block perl updates. And it is a real pleasure

Sometimes I'll enable it for a sync if there's something of interest. Never at work, though.
My roomates said they were going to get me rims for Christmas, or a CB radio so I can talk to other car beds; that'll be hot. Might get a stereo, too. My sister said I should get an alarm.
