My current laptop, sitting on my nightstand thing, along with a bunch of other crap.
It doesn't actually sit there too much though, since it's my main laptop and I use it at school and stuff. That's really just where it sleeps.
My computer center thingie, with a laptop running as a nat gateway with the switch on top of it, a media server, and a PS3. They're all on a separate subnet because the wireless router sucks too much for file transfer and ssh. The PS3 and the desktop are plugged into a 25inch monitor/tv. I also have a homebrewed speaker system behind it made from some car speakers and the amp from an old set of computer speakers.

BUT... she uses yahoo and skype too much.
Skype is easily installed for Ubuntu through the medibuntu repositories (works fine in 32bit, but 64bit has a few issues with display images and such). I don't know if video and voice work (if that's what she uses it for), since I haven't ever bothered with that.
Pidgin has support for yahoo IM as well I think. No video though, I think.
Just thought I'd point that out,

I use Skype and Pidgin (AIM. Jabber, Yahoo, Twitter and IRC) DAILY. She refuses to move from Windows. I told her I'd configure it for her... but NO!!!
Pathetic.
If you set Skype up right (as I do) then you get Text and V/V fine... and no video in pidgin yet. Coming soon.
Meh has new account! This one left behind for history's sake...
