After a very long time of using Gnome and Cinnamon, and after personal disagreement with the development of the former, I was looking for simplistic alternatives. I think with Openbox I have found such an alternative. There is no magic happening but the result of changes to text config files!
Still some minor issues but overall I am very happy with my desktop now.

@nTia89
Sure:
https://github.com/orschiro/dotfiles/bl … y/.conkyrc
It is still not perfect though. I need to investigate how to insert an if statement in case some variables do not contain any output. Currently they leave empty spaces in the infobar.

I thought it was a tint2 or similar task bar, so is it only a list of open apps?

Yes, but only a limited amount of apps. Currently Zotero, Thunderbird and Dropbox. The reason being, I run these apps in tray mode (Dropbox) or on other Desktops (Zotero and Thunderbird). Furthermore, I run them depending on my battery state. This conky bar helps me finding out whether the apps are actually running or not (sometimes my powersaving script fails and does not launch all apps successfully). I do not want to click on them or open them and thus a proper task bar is not necessary for me.

^ What is the font in your window border?

You can undecorate any window with Obapps. Or put this into rc.xml:
<application class="rdesktop" name="rdesktop" type="normal">
<decor>no</decor>
</application>
