Re: A new lightweight music manager

Hello..

Drop file browser pane in favor of gtk file chooser.. and now can a option to add folders non recusively.

Now the second panel is the playlists.

Please.. Call for testers and translators.. wink

Edit.:  Now with middle click on the library/playlists view, append songs to current playlist. (Inspired in http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197423). Feature that i love!!! big_smile

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Hi!
That bug about high CPU usage is still there. Pragha after some time of playing (and using cca 0.8% cpu) starts to use 12-13 % cpu.
If user pauses pragha, and continue to play after it cpu usage drops to normal.

Always, or in certain circumstances? You use Alsa? oss??? soft mixer?  or a particular song? hmm

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Im using alsa, no soft mixer, in this test playing a flac file. And yes, it is happening allways. With mp3, wma...

Pragha started:  cpu - 2 %, mem 1.2 %
after "next track" - cpu 6%, mem 1.2% (cpu usage did not "peak" for a while after next song is loaded, it jumps and remains on that level.)
after "next track" one more time - cpu 36%, mem 1.2%
once again - cpu 20%, mem 1.2%

After I pause playback, and press play after 1-2 sec...

cpu 2%, mem 1.2%

Same is described in posts #363, #364 of this topic, page 15.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

I finally updated the translation: http://www.file-upload.net/download-2365728/de.po.html Delete link: http://www.file-upload.net/delete-2365728/4xofxp.html

Some things to say:

The original English strings  are sometimes a bit strange. For example, "Remove to playback queue" should be "Remove from playback queue" I think.  "Repeat playback list at the end" also sounds a bit strange, I'd call it "Repeat playback at the end of the list" or something like that.

Also I've observed a little bug: When clicking on "Remove from playback queue" Pragha sometimes crashes (not always) with following output:

GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:136: failed to allocate 5788491012 bytes
aborting...

One more thing: The whole text in the notify-osd popup is bold. Why not make it like in the tooltip: the categories are bold, the entries of the track are not.

Last thing: Pragha seems not to have a window icon.

Observations concerning memory usage: very low memory usage, between 6,6Mb and 7,9Mb. Really really cool! smile

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Hello all..

As I said before in 0.7.4.svn, improved the time library indexing. A tiny patch which greatly improves performance. big_smile

Also in preference dialog, add option to start pragha minimized, fullscreen, or remember the last window state and add a new option to minimize pragha when close window. Options that many people requested.

Also: Add button in panel to leave fullscreen. Before alone with F11, not always intuitive. wink

Fix: Now work queue list when sequential playlist. hmm
Fix: Hide album art when restore mainwindow if set to no show. neutral

Also trying to add actions to the notifications.  I really do not understand that does not work.  Please helpme!!!!

As always, please, test and Translates. cool

You're app looks great, Taking too much time to add my whole library (3k songs).

The App looks great and simple, If i sometime get the knowledge of programming, this are one of the things I would like to make myself, so "I feel ya".
POST UPDATE: 21/5/2010 - App is in version 0.5.1

Constructive Criticism, get another way to read library, Quod Libet only takes a few secs, I'ts written in Python BTW. (I'm still gonna try it though tongue)

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Soo sorry... sad

Against all expectations, I'm rewriting pragha to use gstreamer.

This because I get tired of certain problems to work directly with libmad. Like this: http://code.google.com/p/dissonance/issues/detail?id=8

This also brings support for pulseaudio, and many audio formats, and believe me greatly simplifies the code. hmm

Unfortunately, they lost all audio backend settings, and lost the support of lastfm.

Here I give you the first compilation of pragha 0.8.0 to test. This is an alpha. thousands of errors (really is the first compilation, and closes every so, but you can test!-). I really take a long time to repair..

http://dissonance.googlecode.com/files/ … vn.tar.bz2

Try ... The biggest complaint was the use gstreamer cpu consumption.. this and memory consumption does not vary... smile

I am writing with little time.
On Monday I write again, and better explain my plans..

p.d: I keep the two versions. but do not expect many changes in the current version. sorry..

cool
Regards.
Matias.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

PhotonX.
No need to configure anything. and does not depend on gnome or xfce or kde. just works. But note that you need a multimedia keyboard. For now detects XF86AudioPlay, XF86AudioStop keys, etc. automatically.

I could only test with this keyboard. A genius kb-21e. but these keys are standard (Would believe!-), if it is a multimedia keyboard. hmm

In future release, add some configuration.. wink

I had to make a last minute review.

V0.7.7.1
Fix Issue 14: Pragha can not remember the starting position.
Remember correctly window position when click status icon or close window.
Never add files recursively with dbus and command line. Freeze Pragha.

Enjoy.
MAtias.

P.s.: Do you remember this? http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 33#p618033 or http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 32#p627532

If you've configured something like that, disable it and remove any entry of the media keys. tongue

okey..

According to this, another application that has registered these keys..

So .. When an application registers a global key, can not use any other. It can be a player, metacity, compiz, or xfwm4.

If you are not using another player, use gconf2-editor to find that apliation is using it, but surely is metacity..
