Re: A new lightweight music manager

Nooo.. Sorry..

Rhythmbox, clementine, and parole, the only reproducers that I have installed works the same way.. First that is executed, it registers the keys..

But do not have installed gnome to test..

Search in Keyboard Preferences, if there is any option to configure it.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Nope, just the possibility to set and unset the keybindings... Is the problem with using the Gnome keybindings the additional dependency on Metacity?

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Maybe..
There is much resistance from users to add dependencies of gnome.
But even rhythmbox uses the Gnome keybindings.. hmm

Also, I'm trying with metacity and compiz, and working properly.

That is certainly a problem in your settings. neutral

See this.. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultimediaKeys
or test it: http://pragha.wikispaces.com/message/view/home/25294057 . I did not check.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Helloo..

In subversion a prerelease of Pragha 0.8.0 "A tiny more fast"

News
Now is Pragha Music Player instead Pragha Music Manager.
Folder / Files library view replaced by Foders Estructure. (like in foobar2000) (1)
Add option to merge folders in folders estructure view.
Use gtk_tree_store_prepend rather than gtk_tree_store_append. It's much faster.

Bugs fixed:
Not scroll to the new path if already visible.
Preventing incomplete icon themes, restore Album png.
Use gnome-mime-audio icon to library_tree, and playlist_tree if exitst.
Check system tray before sending notifications.
Use correct PULSE_PROP_media.role audio, instead music.

Update po files.

(1) Again thank you very much to Roberto DMD. wink
A new feature of pragha that everyone loved. big_smile

Please test...
...and if they can, translateeee... lol Add only a new string: "Merge folders in the folders estructure view"

Over the name, it improved a little speed to generate the library view.. but as always still be improved.. roll

Enjoy people..

Actually, regarding keybindings in gnome. The gnome settings daemon will normally grab the multimedia keys (and prevent any other application from using them). Luckily you can register with the gnome settings daemon and request notifications whenever those keys are pressed. This all works via dbus, so you won't have a *hard* dependency to gnome. This is the way I did in Goggles Music Manager.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

OK, long time since I've been here. Since Consonance was not updated anymore, I've been using it until today. Tonight I'll install the new Pragha player and see how that works out.

Until then, I have made a dutch translation and submitted it in transifex and I have given my opinion on the notifications-poll.

Could you add the repeat one track feature?
A repeat button(track/album/playlist) on the status bar would be great!

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Hello people..

Good news for some, and an aberration for others.
.. but finally port pragha to use gstreamer..

Benefit? smile
* Add support for new formats: So far wma and m4a. Please checks support to m4a. I no have any m4a file to test. wink
* Add a new pulseaudio backend.
* Now it's free!. Can be packaged for fedora for example, since not depend directly of libmad.

Regressions: sad
* Lastfm not working. Soon fix it using https://github.com/felipec/libscrobbler. Adding librefm and love support.
* Lost Mod file support. Sorry.. but someone used it? In fact very easy to add support for this. Maybe fix it later.

Then, everything should work. smile

Please!, test and test!.
I'm not sure considerate of a final version, but it is the only version I'm using and it works correctly. Depends on your answers. smile

Please, for people who do not like gstreamer, the idea is support both versions.
The gstreamer version adding equalizer plugins, and others goodies required by users (Exaggerating? in a long time!-), leaving a basic version, and really fast and light as we have today. smile

Best regards.
Matias.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Wow, it's become even lighter (using 5,9MiB of RAM currently). Would there be a possibility to add an item into the context menu in the sidebar to play (not append to the current playlist!) the currently selected entry?

Re: A new lightweight music manager

plutov03:
Sorry but no.
This feature is important for players like rhythmbox o iTunes, which focus on the entire collection. In players like pragha that focus on a playlist, if you just want to listen to a song, o a CD indefinitely, add only the songs you want to listen to current playlist. Then click on repeat and listen to your favorite songs all day.

(pragha:15259): pragha-CRITICAL **: Audio init failed, choose appropriate settings from the preferences.

If pragha start correctly, but not playing. Select OSS from the preferences and restart.

Displaying the command line options
/pragha -h
-g, --audio_device          Audio Device (For ALSA: hw:0,0 etc.., For OSS: /dev/dsp etc..)
-m, --audio_mixer           Mixer Element (For ALSA: Master, PCM, etc.., For OSS: /dev/mixer, etc...)

.. try: pragha -g  /dev/dsp -m /dev/mixer

It should work. There was any change since Consonance.

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Linux? Bsd? Oss? oss4??

Sorry..
I am intrigued and do not know how to help.. I do not know OSS, and either its configuration and all the audio system remains the same as that of consonance.

Now.. before work no? Is not the first time you write in the forum..

Ehmm..
First would eliminate the configuration and start from scratch. (Only change the name of this directory ~/.config/pragha).
If that fails would install consonance. I usually do to see if there is any regression in pragha.

See this..Provide good information., http://wiki.debian.org/SoundFAQ

I have the same pb with consonance.
I'll post in the multimedia subforum. It might be an oss pb, but I only have this pb with consonance/pragha at the moment

Edit topic created:

I used to use consonance and pragha but it can be that I was using alsa...

Re: A new lightweight music manager

Okey..
I understand, oss4 is practically incompatible with the previous version.

According http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Configuration
"MPD includes support for OSSv3. OSS4 will work, except for the mixer." With Pragha and Consonance is exactly the same.

..and according to http://www.4front-tech.com/wiki/index.p … _for_OSSv4 :
"Add the following line to ~/.libao, default_driver=oss"

Saying that, I will hate everyone.. But this kind of problems, I like gstreamer. smile
