Re: Arch's official language

Honestly, I got a new HDD, had the problem with the 2007-8 FTP install, then got it to work with the last -rc ISO and now this?
How am I supposed to finish installing Arch like this? Thank god Wiki is still spelled the same.
And I'm not even British, American or whatever, I'm Portuguese and I hated loosing the third place on the WorldCup2006 tongue Damn you all!!!

Ich hoffe, der Witz war real, weil Sie hätten alle zu lesen, die Nachrichten in Deutsch von babelfish und google translate!

Re: Arch's official language

I just installed german version of Arch. I don't understand german at all, so I have no idea what all these messages stand for but it looks really fantastic (boots faster than english version too).
All distros should follow great Arch example and switch to german (mandarin seems bolder though) as soon as possible.
This is what I call bleeding edge.

Re: Arch's official language

my thought process:

oh crap what am i gonna use now.  (no other distro is comparable) i guess i'll have to learn german.  what's the real reason they are doing this?  they must be trying to get rid of all the newbs.  surely i've graduated from newb status by now.  why is everybody talking about oktoberfest?  (realize what's going on)  all the devs are such jerks.  they are just lucky they make the best linux distro ever.

Re: Arch's official language

All this talk about programs changing languages makes no sense! Your GLibC locale is still set to English, so programs with multiple translations will install in English no matter what. Most of the packages Arch uses have been multilingual for years.

no, it was just a virus translating it to your language.

Today is April fools day but I don't see the logic in that when 1st most common European language in the world is English and the second is Russian.
