After this upgrade:
[2010-11-12 17:21] upgraded gogglesmm (0.11.4-1 -> 0.11.5-1)I lost all my playlists! It is quite (very?) annoying! The playlist should be in ~/.goggles?
ls .goggles/ -lh
total 972K
-rw-r--r-- 1 manu manu 953K 14 nov. 20:11 goggles.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 manu manu 11K 14 nov. 20:24 xineconf
Don't think I've changed anything there. Was there any sqlite update recently? Can you send me your goggles.db.

Well here are the last sqlite upgrade:
more /var/log/pacman.log |grep sqlite
[2010-09-02 18:22] upgraded sqlite3 (3.7.1-1 -> 3.7.2-1)
[2010-10-19 13:26] upgraded sqlite3 (3.7.2-1 -> 3.7.3-1)
[2010-10-19 13:31] upgraded python-pysqlite (2.6.0-1 -> 2.6.0-2)
I think the problem appeared in november but I'm not 100% shure of that!
I emailed you my goggles.db.

Yeah, so it seems all the entries have disappeared in the playlists. There's unfortunately no way of retrieving them. Did you add, delete or edit any tracks recently (before any of the tracks disappeared from the playlist) ?

Just for the record i just made an account on he forum to tell you how great is your app.
I've been using banshee for 4 months and today i saw this thread and i was like "Come on you can't loose anything by trying".
I just can say i love it, its stable uses low ram and low cpu and the search of music is FAST, all the things i looked for in a player.
And it can scrobble!! :DDDD
Thanks for this awesome piece of software

What a fine little musicbox you have created
The icon on the taskbar has a white border, it looks a little odd on a black background. I was wondering if you had the original artwork for the icon? I was thinking to have a mess about in GIMP and remove the border for you.
It's a small thing, I'd be more than happy to give it a whirl, though my GIMP expertise isn't the best, but what better way to learn, than when helping

The icon is not the problem. It even has a nice transparent parts in it.
Unfortunately transparent tray icons are current not possible with FOX (although I do hope to get a fix for that). However, you can set the background color for the tray icon in the preferences panel.

Install xine-ui and see if you can play anything with xine. In addition send me the full log.

Silly me for missing that
By the way, can the gapless playback be set on a per-album basis?

No, but I'm not sure why you would want that.

Is it a feature ?
when I delete a track within gmm with all my library showed, the selection moves automatically to the Artist and Album which is currently played... I think it's a little bit annoying because if you want to delete a bunch of track, you will have each time to reselect the whole Artist/Album view in the library...
I hope I'm clear enough hahaha
thanks !

Not exactly a feature, but definitely something that needs to be improved!

In other news. I'm working on a new audio engine that's going to replace xine at some point in the future. It's far from finished, but I was hoping perhaps I could get some people interested in helping out (development). Even if you just want to test that would be fine too, though keep in mind, not everything is finished.

Yeah, I noticed for the 5 minutes I run gnome 3 (and ditched it). Will have to investigate...

Looks like Gnome 3 doesn't support tray icons anymore. Though it does now have persistent notifications. I will implement that in a similar way Rythmbox does.

I'm not using the Shell right now, but AFAIK it has the classic tray area hidden in the lower right corner of the screen. You have to prod it to show up (similar to the Activities menu). Just in case

Ah I will have to try that out as well. In gnome-shell mode it only shows notifications in the lower right hand corner. It also does not show the application name in top left corner, which means they probably dropped support for some old X11 hints/properties. All FOX-1.6 applications seemed to be affected by this.

And I probably have to ship some high resolution icons because gnome loves to fill up your ram with big icons...

Hi, gogglesmm is awesoooomeeee ..... I just have one question, is there a way to play files that have (for example) japanese characters in the filename like "ミュージック/歌.mp3". I have --several-- files like this one, it would be hell to rename them... but I just LOOOOVE your player, I have dumped every other player and I've tried them all (including mpd+whatever frontend) because no one has a startup as fast as goggles (200GB music db is usually my problem).
If anyone else has this same problem (and solution) I'd like to know.
Thanks in advance.
omg, I feel so dumb, I just had to "Sync Folder" because some files had not been updated... Sorry about this...
GOGGLESMM FTW!!

Just found your player yesterday, and am totaly loving it. Works very nice and fast, and has all the features I need.
However, I found one (very minor) bug just now: it plays .aac files just fine, and shows tags etc. but it doesn't detect the length of the songs -> it shows 00:00 as the time for every song. Not that I really care about this, but I figured I'd let you know The progressbar/search-thingie seems to detect it right though.
EDIT:
hmm, looks like VLC is also having a hard time determining the length of aac songs. A song was about 5 min long, and it started "guessing" at 7:something and kept dropping until the song ended Again, the progressbar/search seemed correct. So maybe this is a common thing and not a bug in goggles...
EDIT2:
bloody hell, this is interresting! mplayer detected the song to be 5:54 straight away... so I suppose mplayer is using a different engine to play the music than goggles, vlc & others?
Also, it seems like they're all wrong the song is supposed to be 4:49 ... Don't know what to make of this.
Another thing I don't like is that the music stops when syncing the folders. Again, very minor thing, and not really a bug, but it would be nice to let it play while syncing, you know
