Can that detect stuff not normally included in KDE or GNOME menus?

Does e17 need to be compiled from source then?

...and don't underestimate the dark side of the segfault :-)

I coudn't start enlightement from xinitrc - I had only segfaults. I guess I did something wrong or it had problems with gcc (latest version). It also wanted utf8 locale (not a problem really - I used pl_PL.utf8 but it segfaulted anyway).  Bah, I didn't have enough time to find what was wrong.

EDIT: Having groups like e17 and maybe e17-extra would really make it easier to install (I know nickm repo has it).

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

Packaging E17 is a rather stupid idea because it's having extremely fast paced development and not really meant to be used unless you know how to fix the bugs you encounter.

migorz - that can equally be said of any cvs version of anything - packaging it simply means that one person compiles it then everyone gets to share it.  i don't see the problem with that if we want to use it?

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

Now that Nickm has a daily updated E17 snapshot repository I feel like my CVS packages are becoming useless... I'm thinking of dropping snapshots and instead packaging the "Asparagus" previews from http://enlightenment.freedesktop.org/, which are updated when significant changes have been made and can be considered some kind of betas.

Do you think I should keep taking CVS snapshots or I should leave this job to Nickm and start packaging these "official" snapshots?

@lanrat: there is an "efl" group which installs only the libraries. I see many people are asking me to add also an "e17" one with the apps too, I'll do that next time.

@Moderators: could someone fork this thread, please?  smile

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

IMHO: it's a very good idea to not duplicate this work and have "betas".

There's a huge difference in a cvs version of an app that's be out for a while.

Read: "Hey, I'm using the cvs version of emacs."

And a set of stuff that's never been released before and is FAR from meant to be used full time. In any way shape or form.

I can't tell you how many idiots cry to the Enlightenment mailing list because they found packages for their distro and because of which expect it to be usable.

But whatever.  roll
