Gonzakpo's KDE logo is really nice as it definately stands for both: kde and arch.. the rest of the image is overkill tho... foxbunny's logo is very attractive and perfect for a distro... but it does not make me think of arch or kde...

foxbunny,
i just _love_ the first logo you have posted here... (the first one in this picture). It will definitely get my vote
Maybe you just use some more different colors for the "wings" and it will be 1000% perfect imho

Ok, funkyou, I'll try something out. Keep an eye out for update.
p.s.
I couldn't get Inkscape (on Windows at work) to export the shapes of two logos correctly. I don't know why, but I'll try at home. The problem versions are top right and third from top on the right.
p.s.2
Both export correctly when I put them in their own files.

I love it, especially the one on the top right, it has some sort of energy

The one on the top right is very nice on black. But there's a prob with it. Some people think it's too much like Ubuntu. If anyone else thinks it is, maybe we should forget it.
Oh, and what do you think about those alternative layouts. I kinda like the clockwise motion, and chakras have a different meaning depending on the direction.
All upper chakras...move naturally in clockwise manner. Until reversed by pure will, pure desire, and devotion, all chakras below the heart move counterclockwise through the force of gravity

I prefer the Arch-blue one, it's still Arch-based project (I mean the second one from the bottom, on the left).

@funkyou:
Here's a chakra color chart. I would like to discuss where Chakra (distro) belongs in the setup.
It's a bit philosophical, but it's a good start for picking the color.

Oh, nice. I particularly like the first two colours and the black/gold.
(PS. Inspiration hasn't struck me for this one - I haven't gone into a sulk because I lost the Arch logo competition or anything. )

For what's it worth dunc, Thayer and I thought both your logos were among the best submissions. Great colours, elegant and simple...we figured you'd win for sure!

Vishuddha chakra symbolizes the pure consciousness, and creativity. On a psychic level, it governs expression, inspiration in speech, eloquence, and perception of the archetypal models.
I would say that Vishudda is the chakra, which corelates the most with my perception of what a linux distribution is.
Concerning your chart, it would be light-blue. It is the fifth chakra.

Come one, man, don't let it get to ya. No one is happy about loosing, but the important thing is we did our best.
I keep doing this after the competition, and it's fun, and the only way I know how to contribute (for now).
@chaosgeisterchen:
Agreed. I think it's the chakra. But it'd be nice to hear more opinions.

the third one from the bottom left but in blue, like the one under it.
I don't like the gradiant effect on the first line, but going from a lighter color to a darker one like in the last line looks nice and smooth.

Er, no, seriously, I haven't. I just thought people might think that, because I hadn't posted on this thread yet.
(And not really even that; it was just a bit of a joke. I thought the smiley might be a clue...)

Hello everyone...I'm proud to announce I've been doing some drawings
By the way, foxbunny I like your logo but I still think is a bit "boring"...you should try to make it more alive!
It's just a constructive critic...don't take it the wrong way
Well, here are some thing the came to my mind when I was playing around with inkscape (what a fantastic program!!!!!!!).
I present to you the perfect combination between KDE and Archlinux!! .....I'm sooo proud of it hehe:
And here are some others that came across:
P.D: If you someone wants any of these logos in svg just ask
P.D.2: The logos look really crappy in png...really don't know why. It doesn't happen in svg.

foxbunny: Maybe the logo would symbol cahkra better if there are 7 leaves instead of 5 as there are 7 chakras (at least in according to your color chart)
I've been thinking about it. It really has to have 8 leaves if it's going to be for real, as far as I can tell from different drawings of chakras I've stumbled upon. In some versions, the number of leaves even depend on position, and the topmost chakra has 1000 leaves, and that also makes sense, but then the number of leaves (just like the color) depends on where funkyou and the crew want to place their Chakra.
So there are different versions of the story of leaves.
I've chosen 5 because 5 is the number of 'awareness', as in 'new universe we suddenly become aware of'. The meaning is derived from 4 + 1 where 4 is the number of _this world_, the stuff we know, stuff we're used to, and the 1, something that we discover that is beyond 4. It's kinda like the Chakra, for me at least: taking Arch, and KDE, and making it something we didn't see before.
EDIT:
lol, the picture I posted above is the one that features chakras with different number of leaves. Just noticed.

foxbunny,
at first, sorry for the late reply. Well, we all just love your designs Could you manage it to come over to our IRC channel to talk about this stuff? Its #shaman-arch on freenode ...
Imho this is a perfect base, and just needs some tweaking to make it perfect

That's one beautiful logo.

BTW, even more than the nice logo, I'm happy to hear about Chakra. I've sampled KDE4 with other live CDs (Mandriva, OpenSUSE, Kubuntu), but I've held off on messing with my nice Arch installation since I value its stability and "cleanness". So I'll be glad to get to try KDE4 in an Arch environment when you've got Chakra ready.
No rush, though. There are plenty of other "samplers" out there. Take your time, do it right!
Thanks.

The KDEmod team has always done such a good job with KDE that even openSUSE guys are wishing they'd package KDEmod for openSUSE. So I think Chakra will be just as awesome.
I often use KDEmod for Arch Linux advertising in my LUG.
