Re: KDE 4.1 Official Release

Thanks for the alert!

I'm looking forward to trying it but will most likely wait for it to hit 'extra'.

Re: KDE 4.1 Official Release

Gave it a spin, I'm reluctant to move away from my cozy kde3.5. Nevertheless, kudos for packaging it, Pierre.

As kde4 is on its way to extra, I presume there won't be any 3.5 updates in the official repo. Is at least the kdemod team going to support 3.5 (3.5.10 is nigh)?

It's not only that there won't be any updates, but (if I understand correctly) all parts of KDE3 that have a KDE4-equivalent will be replaced when the move to extra happens. There will be a stripped down kdelibs3 to support some old packages.

If you can't live without KDE3, try KDEmod. There the move to KDE4 will happen parallely, but - as you hope - KDE3 will be offered in a legacy repository. See http://kdemod.ath.cx/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=868

We have KDE3 on our list, but it can take some time (maybe until 3.5.10) until we have time to rebuild and rename it... Currently we are preparing KDE4, and then we can see how to get KDE3 done ...

want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

Re: KDE 4.1 Official Release

*phew*  It's nice to know that somebody will keep kde3 around for a while.  I personally am not ready to switch up to kde4 quite yet.

Time to pull out my friend, IgnorePkg.

I think you mean [testing]

flack 2.0.6: menu-driven BASH script to easily tag FLAC files (AUR)
knock-once 1.2: BASH script to easily create/send one-time sequences for knockd (forum/AUR)

Re: KDE 4.1 Official Release

I'm trying to install kde4.1 from testing, but it seems that kdelibs conflict with gnome-menus... hmm

edit: many gnome packages relies on gnome-menus...I do think this should be fixed before moving kde4 to extra

Re: KDE 4.1 Official Release

Ok. Thanks. It's solved. But what about kdesupport package. It seems to be missing and it's needed to build apps...

Re: KDE 4.1 Official Release

really happy about it ( kde 4.1 ). only thing I miss is kde-l10n-sk for slovak languaqe. KDEmod included this package in their repo...is there a chance for this in the official Arch repo?
