phabulosa wrote:BTW, how did you guys resolve the "no sound after suspend" issue with the lasted kernel26-one?
"snd-hda-intel.model=acer" in GRUB kernel line didn't give me any sound at all.
Neither did "model=toshiba".You have to put it in /etc/modprobe.d/sound
but I don't think kernel26-one compile snd-hda-intel as a module.

don't know who may edit your AA1-wiki-site (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acer_Aspire_One) so I'll post this right in here:
Anyone can edit it after registering.
(*) the mentioned xorg.conf parameter "DisplaySize" is calculated wrong - if it's really supposed to be set to 96dpi
---(snip)---
DisplaySize 195 113 # Sets the correct DPI (96 x 96)
---(snap)---no big surprise - this setting will not set 96dpi at 1024x600... the proper values would be more like:
DisplaySize 271 159value = pixels * 25.4 / dpi
(reference: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … ize.2FDPI)i guess with this fixed - it wouldn't be necessary to modify ~/.xserverrc or ~/.Xdefaults anymore.
Someone above in this thread has reported problems with xrandr when the NoDDC option is set, which is necessary for DisplaySize to work. xrandr was then not able to determine and use the maximum resolution of an external screen. Therefore I think we should keep the .xserverrc method on the wiki.

There's no need for any userspace utility to enable CPUfreq over the kernel26-one package as kernel, the governor "ondemand" is already as default.
Hibernate is disabled, as this needs some sort of partition to store RAM data, I thought it no one (including me) would spare as little space needed for hibernation, therefor it is disabled.
Is it possible that there's more than one supplier of sound boards to the Aspire One? I've been reading problems with sound and I've still to encounter one I could replicate

Well, let's list the models then. I have my AAO not here now, but IIRC, I have the Realtek ALC260 as listed in the wiki. I use sound very rarely and have not tested it since 2.6.27, but it was fine with 2.6.27-rc6 and model=acer.

At last i got me one of aa1-150 with 160gb hdd, but i can't install arch on it. =\
I did folow wiki and got core img on a usb stick, tho after a reboot i get either "grub loading, please wait" and thats all, or same phrase followed by black screen.
Please help, this baby is starving to get arch.

That;s why.
Thanks. gothinknight.
Luckily, you have updated your AUR. I have a AA1 with a harddrive, so I will modify your config and recompile for my needs.

I have exactly the same model as yours and I am typing this message in archlinux linux on my AA1.
Please double check every step during installation. It seems that your GRUB was not installed properly.

Let's do this. List all models and address the sound issue.
All kernel26-one users, could you please post your GRUB kernel line? and any configs related to sound?
Also, I read some posts from Ubuntu forum. They can use "/ust/sbin/alsa force-reload" to reload Alsa after resume from suspend.
How can we do this in Archlinux?

You need to create a swap partition equivalent (or greater) in size to your memory in order to enable hibernate.

I did, i've doublechecked everything, did like 10 dd's of both core and ftp imgs, checked md5sums. Same result. I just don't get it.
It could be my flash, i'll go buy new one tomorrow.

have you tried the "flashnul way" (see http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … _USB_stick for details)? (if you have some win* box available for this...)
(i had troubles with one usbstick - but flashnull'ing the image did the trick for me)

thanx for th suggestion, blah, but i have no windblows boxes around, only macs. Hope to fix this stuff with new flash drive, i'll post the results.

I don't think the problem is your flash drive. If that is the case, you will have trouble during installation.

Hey folks I'm havin problems with the wifi.
I updated to the 2.6.27 kernel that was provided in the repos but no luck with the wifi.
It loads the wlan0 device but I can't scan or connect to wifi.
I've updated to the kernel package to gothicknights version http://clientes.netvisao.pt/gtknight/ke … pkg.tar.gz
Same problems it loads the wlan0 device but no scanning or wifi connections.
Here is my modules in /etc/rc.conf
MODULES=(r8169 ath5k acpi_cpufreq snd-mixer-oss)
INTERFACES=(eth0 wlan0)
I put the device up with ifconfig wlan0 up then iwlist scanning and no luck at all.
Anything im doing wrong?

Sorry if confused you, i meant my usb stick, and yes, it all it's fault:)
Anyways, i just borrowed an external cdrom and installed from it, put gothicknights -one kernel - and here it is, another aa1 with Arch on it:D
Thanx a lot for help, guys!

hi guys,
i got my new toy last friday and it came with linpus-what a name.... hehe
but i must say, that os is pretty good for net use, it just feels a bit constricted. the wireless connection however, was solid. it connected to my router with wpa-psk-tkip combo and connected with no problems. i was even able to connect to my local mall's hotspot.
i did a search about alternative os. at first i tried windows, got the wireless working and was happy for a day, then weird problems arose, like cant display hidden files, cant install sygate firewall and stuff. so i just decided to call it quits and install linux again. i went to archwiki and looked for instructions on how to install using usb and to make the long story short, i almost got everything working (thanks to those who contributed to the arch aspireone wiki). my only problem now is... you got it, i cant get my wireless to work. everything i try, no workie...
the aspireone wiki was somewhat lacking with regards to wireless setup but i saw a wireless setup page when searching in the wiki. i followed that and managed to install network manager. i got network manager up and was able to use wired connection with it and it was showing my wpa network and my neighbors so i guess the wireless card drivers were detected properly. i tried connecting but no go... i did another search and installed wpa_supplicant and i wasnt sure if im supposed to fill in the wpa conf file with my settings or if networkmanager takes care of that. i did search for it and somebody somewhere said that networkmanager is supposed to handle that for you. but guess what... it didnt. i know im just doing missing something here. i really appreciate if someone could point me to the right direction. i noticed that some of you guys were able to connect wirelessly, help?
recap:
- using ath5k driver module
- able to detect networks using networkmanager
- CANT connect to my network (wpa-psk tkip)
many thanks!

I can also confirm that the wlan does not work with the ath5k driver in 2.6.27. Please bring back the madwifi solution, it was working perfectly.

I'm using the stock kernel 2.6.27 with ath5k and haven't experienced any problems. Wireless works perfectly for me.
Maybe you still have ath5k blacklisted in rc.conf?

Hmm, I didn't make any changes, but when I retried this today, the wireless works. With WPA/PSK and all. It's a bit more vulnerable to bad signal and recovers in a rather ugly way (cuts connections easier than madwifi did), but it is adequate for my needs.
And ath5k is statically compiled to the kernel in kernel26-one.

Not any longer
I've recompiled the kernel with both ath5k (kernel) and ath_pci (madwifi) in this new release as modules so you may blacklist/use whatever fits you the most.
Also the new kernel is compiled with -O3 (don't expect any notable speed, just for trying if it works smoother...).
And here's the URL: http://clientes.netvisao.pt/gtknight/ke … pkg.tar.gz

Tried the new kernel26-one-2.6.27-3-i686.pkg.tar.gz.
Having no luck loading either ath5k or ath_pci.
With ath5k the wireless device pops up as wlan0.
Can't scan or connect to any wireless networks.
With ath_pci device is ath0 and again no scanning or wireless networks can be seen.
Am I missing any modules?
============Solved=============
The wiresless card was turned off, I couldnt tell. Madwifi works for me.

mine is able to scan and detect networks but cant connect... using networkmanager and the ath5k drivers. currently using the stock kernel 2.6.27
will try gothicknight's kernel and madwifi.
Dooley, what encryption are you using? did madwifi work with wpa-psk tkip?
Offline
Sorry wantamad I'm not using any encryption.
gothicknight how would I go about adding usbserial and generic-ppp support to the kernel?
modprobe usbserial gives me
FATAL: Module usbserial not found.
Thanks for the kernel btw!

I managed to get card reader hotplugging working with the hints from the Ubuntu wiki. You need the pciehp module with the option pciehp_force=1. I updated the wiki.
EDIT: I added the info on a script from the original Linpus install to the wiki. I do not know what this script does, but is seems that it is much less power consuming than just loading the pciehp module.

ok thanks Dooley
did anybody manage to connect to a wpa-psk tkip network? i can only connect to un-encrypted wireless networks on arch. on linpus however, im able to connect to both encrypted and unencrypted networks.
any ideas?
