I think that's zsh, so you would need to use zsh to do that.

Anyone who would like to share a color scheme for a white background?

I've been trying it out for a while and I find it quite nice for the eyes.

Re: Terminal Colour Scheme Screenshots

Okay, so how do I set the values of BLUE,CYAN,RED, etc. in tty console? It would be awesome to get to use some of these themes without needing X..

Note: I'm using uvesafb framebuffer, if that makes any difference. As I understand it, regardless  framebuffers bit depth, 8 or 16 colors is all you can expect from tty.  Well, with so few, it would be really awesome to have them be decent looking, right?

Re: Terminal Colour Scheme Screenshots

@jceasless: You can set the linux console colors with escape sequences like this:

if [ "$TERM" = "linux" ]; then
    echo -en "\e]P00f0f0f"
    ...
fi

Where \e]P marks the beginning of the escape sequence, 0 is the color number (0-9 and A-F for your 16 colors), and the last six characters are the rgb values. Put it in your bashrc file. I got this information from phrak's blog, btw. Have never found it anywhere else, nor figured out where he could have possibly learned it from...

Thank fflarex! You are quite right that that info is far from widespread. Maybe I'll start a thread with [SOLVED] in the title so perhaps google will pick up the good news for the next lost soul smile

EDIT: I'm going to wait to do that until it I've got it up, running, and documented.

You've linked to a resized image, this is the right one:

I think I'll give it a try: I've never been able to adjust to a light terminal, with this nice colour scheme I'm willing to give it another shot big_smile

I'm using gnome-terminal ... can't seem to get urxvt to display the same, but the colors should be about right :

Re: Terminal Colour Scheme Screenshots

Hi big_smile
I'm looking for the so called Thayer's color scheme that should be based on Dante's Vim color scheme.
It seems I can't find it anywhere...
Just to let you understand what I'm talking about, it should be the one in this screenshot:

Tribute_to_Thayer_Colors_by_pkmurugan.png

Does anyone has hints (maybe thayer himself!)?

Thank you. smile

Unfortunately, Thayer's current .Xdefaults does not contain that color scheme, but a "tangoesque" color scheme, pretty different.
Yours looks nice, I'll try it! big_smile
Anyone knows where to find the original one?

I started to date my snapshots so I could have clear picture of what everything looked like at a given time.  The above link has the original molokai-inspired colors.

...and the latest rendition of this color scheme is here:

I finally got around to tweaking the normal/bright shades of blue and magenta.
