moc stands for music (over, on?) console. It's not related to conky. Its ncurses based, has a dual pane view, and is similar in looks to ncmpc. I used it for a while, but went back to mpd

Ahhh...   I had a feeling it would be something related to mpd...  I have been hearing a lot about mpd since moving over to Arch. I will have to track mpd and moc down in pacman now...   oohh   and actually get more music on here to listen to...  I used to use BMPx for it's radio, but I never really did like it. I'll have to poke at mpd, maybe it can play the stations I like. (haven't looked at all it can do yet)

Thanks!

I keep getting distracted from my webserver project...

huh? oooh...  shiny!

I started using moc before I found out all the naughty secrets about mpd. Try mpd + ncmpc / ncmpcpp. You will love it.

I don't see the benefit of mpd over moc i mean, i use moc for playing my music, but what are the naughty secrets about mpd that you found out?

Oh, and can I snag a copy of your .conkyrc? It is definitely visually appealing. I am still

MOC is like heleos descripted it, a CLI music player(Link to "about moc"). I used "mocp -i" to get it's infos into conky wink
The buttons/icons are made with idesk cool

They are 4 rcs, each started with "conky -c rc-file"
.conky-time-rc, .conky-sys-rc, .conky-res-rc, .conky-net-rc

@ dmz:
I'm happy with moc, too. What may I get from mpd what moc do not offer? (Unless many GUI front-ends which I don't need)

@ LeoSolaris
I can here http://www.radio-mmorpg.de/ with moc, I'm not sure if it will work for your stations too.

Re: September 2008 Screenshots

mpd creates a db for you (and really, really fast), which can be used in whatever client you want that supports mpd. Also, you're not stranded with one client, if you want gui one day and cli the other, you dont have to setup things over and over again. You can connect yourself to your music collection from anywhere, moc can't do that. Also, take a look at the ncmpcpp client, it's an extended version of the original ncmpc, very nice. Just look att the screenshots here, i.e: http://unkart.ovh.org/ncmpcpp/screenshots.php

Well, here goes my somewhat updated desktop:

Well, I'm going to release it soon enough in a pack (pekwm + gtk + emerald + bmpanel themes)
still have some minor bugs to correct on the GTK and still have to do the BMpanel theme...

You'll be able to find it here : http://pimpmoth.deviantart.com (this is my dev gallery...)

On another note, the following artists also provide some incredible themes for Linux (mostly GTK oriented) :

Would you mind sharing the rezlooks-tangoesque openbox and gtk themes? They look very spiffy indeed.

First of all, thank you to Zeist and haxit for your responses.  I appreciate it.  I like the vibe of these Arch forums, everyone is so helpful and informative.  I have learned a lot since using Arch this past week.

Last of all...

I'll post it to box-look.org and deviantart once I get around to finishing it. I'm flirting with the idea of adding more pixmaps (the menubar is already using the pixmap engine)

Damn work, pulling me away from my fun.
