iinet to Mirror Arch? (Australia & New Zealand)

Has anyone else had problem performing a sync with pacman to the iinet repo?

I have changed my pacamn.d/mirrorlist to show....
ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/linux/archli … po/os/i686

Pacman responds "failed to retrieve core.db.tar.gz server timed out." Any idea of what I may have done wrong?

I had to change

Server = ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/i686

in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist to

Server = http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/i686/

Otherwise I was getting protocol errors & "failed to retrieve core.db.tar.gz server timed out." Just out of interest other *nix mirrors on iinet have start with http://ftp.iinet.net.au/* (fedora, ubuntu etc)

/etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist need updating ?

Opening the ftp link in firefox, it appears to work. Are you behind a proxy or something?

G`Day Allan, It does work via browser but not from pacman

This is the error I get when using "Server = ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/i686" in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

# pacman -Sy

No proxies or anything wierd

Same error here, gerryAU. Works with the internode mirror though. Have you tried contacting iinet?

I tried again this morning, & it works using:

Server = ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/i686 (default)

possibly iinet mirror problem , but its working for me atm.
