Updated successfully, but samba is not working through nautilus: "DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)"
edit: THIS IS SOLVED by installing smbclient and samba from testing repo!

No problem using imap here at all, maybe it's your provider ?

I'll check and see, but I doubt it, it was working fine until the upgrade today. I use gmail IMAP as well as Exchange 2007 IMAP. I'll futz around with the settings and see if I can get it working.
Thanks for the reply.

Evolution 2.24.0 is a bit buggy, especially when it converted your old mail storage to the new sqlite format. I'll update to 2.24.1 soon, I think that should fix the problems.

@jgc http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=437996
you should move smbclient and samba. also i thing gnome-desktop-sharp is missing dependency for tomboy.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Thanks JGC. I'll just wait for the update.

This was planned to be removed a long time back, it isn't needed at all. Don't take my word as the final voice on this matter, I just read something about it that said something along the line I just said.

The splash screen has been removed from gnome-session and added back as standalone program. However, somehow it is started but not shown on your display. I logged in with Xephyr and found some "Client rejected by server" messages in my terminal then.
Edit: those are coming from something else I guess.
The splash screen is disabled by default from gconf. /apps/gnome-session/options/show_splash_screen is the option you're looking for.

so. got back from work.
I installed 'fast-user-switch' package, but it seems the same as version 2.22
that implies that the ubuntu version of the package is different from upstream.
i hate it when this happens!
any ideas?

Hello, I update the gnome and some issues happens:
- In system tray, appears gnome-at-visual aplication. I disable the program from Sessions, but it still appears.
- In Sessions appears some programs which I don't know what they do. Gnome is very slow to open.

I have a lot of instances of /sbin/console-kit-daemon running, as a root process. According to conky app. 65 instances, also, the shutdown dialog just doesn't work anymore.

I found out how to disable the "Visual assistance technology" from tray. Go to System->Preferences->Keyboard. Go to accessibility and dis-check the first option. :-)

Great update!
I'm only missing nautilus-open-terminal...
Edit. Just ran pacman -Syu... not missing anymore

Has anyone figured out where to get that awesome fast-user-switch applet for us Archies? If it's only available through Ubuntu, we should just tear apart a package and repackage it for Arch.
Peter
P.S. - We finally have a trash restore! And the new default sounds are great!

alessandro_ufms: I did that, and as is mentioned earlier, it is the same as 2.22.

ok, this is really pissing me off. Since the upgrade my shut down dialog doesn't work at all, it opens with the options of restart, cancel and shutdown (used to have hibernate and suspend as well) unfortunately, both shutdown and suspend do exactly nothing, my computer keeps on humming like normal, which is just a slight inconvenience. The worst part is the only options I have under power management now is to blank the screen or do nothing when closing the lid.. rather annoying, I used to have this set to suspend but I guess I can't do this anymore. All of this worked fine in 2.22, help?

When I upgraded, I get the following error with gdm:
your account expired, contact system administrator.
useradd:PAM authentication failed
passwd: unknown user gdm
When I reboot, I get the error saying the user gdm doesn't exist and that I have to configure gdm and restart gdm.
Any ideas?
edit: shutdown/restart button shows up, but it doesn't actually shut down or restart the computer.

Can you log in normally to the shell?

Yea, with no problem at all. (I currently switched login manager until the gdm issue is over). But I'd still like to see it fixed
The rest of the transition to 2.24 went smooth. The above are my only 2 issues. So well done already!

I had a similar problem the other day after updating policykit (though i might have started before but perhaps i didnt notice) and trying to update/install some packages that need to create/modify users.
Do you happen to have your root account locked? This maybe could be helpful (worked for me): http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=56722
