All stable catalyst AUR's packages were updated, i didn't check them all - but should be ok
Now i will build i686 packages, and update repo...
Catalyst 11.1:
- official kernel support up to 2.6.37 (works fine also on 2.6.38rc2)
- new amdcccle option, let me translate umm... "distortion/deformation elimination" - anyway something like enhanced v-sync ;P edit: aaahh so now everything is v-synced, just like in oss radeon, nice, already like it

Thanks. Done
Edit: Haha ah! i cannot believe this - AMD just changed 11.1 driver so it's now in other version (was 8.81, is 8.812) and differs in many files, thats all after just 4-5 hours from premiere !
I guess update is a good idea... AUR was updated, repo soon will be

Awesome. I have the same chip (just got it this last month) and I was ticked at the drivers. Hopefully 11.1 will help ?

And I now experience the bug where the screen becomes corrupt after exiting full screen (either from watching a YouTube video or playing World of Goo). I had the same problem in the past, but the last few releases were fine.
Anyone else seeing this?

Yep, just saw it on youtube <sigh>, too bad - i liked new amdcccle feature.. Occurs when "distortion/deformation elimination" (btw how its called originally in eng ccc?) in enabled.
Temp solution is going to tty and again to X -> then youtube is working correctly, at least for me.
Sometimes im also catching screen corruptions in games if compositing (kwin) is enabled.

Just updated catalyst-daemon and catalyst-utils to 11.1-2, also renewed xorg.conf via "aticonfig --initial --force" and had catalyst-daemon rebuild fglrx.
Could not start X anymore afterwards. startx command returned this (Xorg.0.log showed up the same):
http://pastebin.com/vCPyX8HR
The first error there is "Invalid video BIOS signature!". – Unfortunately, my notebook's (HP Pavilion dv6-3051sg WR779EA) BIOS has is no graphics related configuration option at all. (It has a discrete Mobility Radeon 5650 that cannot be used on Linux yet afaik and a chipset Mobility Radeon 4200 which worked fine with the previous Catalyst version 10.12. The notebook is a new one bought last Christmas and thus should be supported by new drivers).
Anyone experiencing the same problem? Is there a known solution, a patch, a special xorg.conf entry or something for this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello everyone,
I've followed the AUR instructions with catalyst 11.1-2 and catalyst-utils packages and they install 'successfully', but I still get a "No supported adapters detected" error when I try to run aticonfig --initial --force.
I'm coming from Ubuntu with limited xorg experience, so I could be missing something very simple. I've tried every xorg.conf setup and every installation method I could find, but no avail.
Apologies for the simple question and lack of experience but I'd appreciate any help!

Maybe your video card is not supported? Hard to tell without know which video card you have.

6850 (apologies, I was reading the previous posts and neglected to specify).
AMD calls it supported and I've seen countless reports of others getting it working.
Thanks.

I guess is not supported yet... at least is what their wiki says: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Hardwa … _Supported
edit: well unless someone knows how to put it worked. I don't know :\

@fp29129:
it's pretty complex, maybe you should ask on phoronix forums or on #ati at freenode.
@Dannyboy:
here is some initial /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "aticonfig Layout"
Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0" 0 0
EndSection
Section "Module"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
Option "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver"
Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor"
Option "DPMS" "true"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
Driver "fglrx"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]-0"
Device "aticonfig-Device[0]-0"
Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]-0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
EndSubSection
EndSection
BusID could be different in your case, but give it a chance.
Just a few posts ago Apollo Costa wrote that his 6850 works correctly, so maybe try to email him .

I've installed 11.1 from [catalyst] repository and in amdcccle I can still see Catalyst Version 10.12 in the Information panel. My card is HD6850 and I still see the Unsupported hardware message at the bottom right corner.
I've tried removing evertyhing, rebooting, intalling catalyst-utils + catalyst-generator and several other options with no success.
Is it normal? Anything else to be done?

Hi guys,
I've noticed something really strange today. I usually boot into GDM and there (nearly ) everything works great. Today I booted into the console because I want to solve this (the solution described doesn't work, but that's another story) and I found that I wasn't able to start X server simply by commands like xinit or startx or gnome-session. I always got this error message:
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0@4:0:1) found
But in my xorg.conf (which is used) is BusID "PCI:04:00:00". The only working way how to start X server is launch GDM daemon... (I also tired KDM daemon and that works too.)
So where is the problem? GDM daemon works, but traditional ways to start X don't. Is this normal? Did I forget to configure something?

Have you tried this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AT … 7s_version?
About the message unsupported hardware no idea.

Anyone has the same problem with AMDOverdriveCtrl ?
The program 'AMDOverdriveCtrl' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.

Any ideas?

Which kernel version are you using, devadittya? Seems you have 2.6.37 from [testing], I suppose (maybe you tried it and then removed [testing] from pacman.conf?)
Offline
2.6.37 just arrived in [core]. Repo update is probably coming soon
Xorg 1.9.3.901 is also here, moved out from [testing] and now in [extra].

Nope, don't have testing at all.
[root@arch_devb devadittya]# uname -r
2.6.36-ARCH
I am behind the university proxy, and the university network is too complicated. I frequently have mirror refresh issues. It's probably linked to that. I'd wait for a few days.
Thanks anyways

Strange, I'm having the opposite problem: I just tried to do pacman -Syu, kernele 2.6.37 is ready in [core] and pacman is willing to update it without finding any dependency issue with catalyst:

It's in italian but I think it's clear that no conflict is found, even if catalyst requires kernel26<2.6.37:

Is this a bug in catalyst's PKGBUILD, in pacman or in my understanding of how the dependencies resolution works? I think I will stick with 2.6.36 for a bit more...

@snack, you have catalyst-11.1-2 installed and the update manager is going to download catalyst-11.1-3, which is compiled against kernel 2.6.37. Vi0L0 updated the repo at 02:30, one hour after my post above. So, make sure you can safety upgrade now.
