I think yes, because I did: lsmod | grep fglrx and it returned few lines with fglrx module.

My problem is fixed now. I'm so stupid 0.o. I forgot to add the fglrx module to systemd boot. sorry for that!
And thank you very much for your help (especially Vi0L0) smile

Re: The AMD/ATI Bar & Grill

Can anybody help me?
I'm using catalyst-utils and catalyst-generator from [catalyst-hd234k] since the ones from [catalyst] were giving me the "Unsupported Hardware" watermark.
But since 12.6-2 I've been getting the same watermark. I cannot use aticonfig without getting "aticonfig: No supported adapters detected". Nevertheless amdcccle works perfectly.
I saw in the Archwiki that AMD APUs don't work with fglrx 12.6, it doesn't say why.
Yet, my video driver works fine. I even have GPU acceleration
The only problem is that aticonfig doesn't work, and the watermark would still show up if I didn't remove it manually.
I'm using the stock kernel (3.4.4-3) from [core] on a AMD APU A8-3510MX with Radeon HD6620G
Any suggestions?

@szorti:
what if you will reinstall catalyst / xorg packages?
If that won't help then maybe try to strace startx

Re: The AMD/ATI Bar & Grill

Hi guys, I've got a radeon HD 4650, using catalyst daemon from the hd 234k repo, and when I do startx I get this error:

(EE)No supported AMD display adapters were found.
(EE)No devices found.

I've been using this card on arch for quite a while without many hitches, what's happening? sad

EDIT: Solved.

Just turned my PC off and left it for a few mins, turned it back on and all is well!

big_smile Thanks for the reply, but I used that script to remove the watermark in the first place. What I would like to know is if there is a current solution to the aticonfig problem. Or should I just wait for a new Catalyst release that will have the problem fixed...?

Just remembered back to Highschool IT classes, where the technician's expertise extended as far as shutting down/rebooting and not much further wink

Re: The AMD/ATI Bar & Grill

I use arch with amd APU's to run XBMC.  I recently done a full update on a system only to find it totally broke a few things.  The watermark and aticonfig issue were easy enough to get round.
The main issue i had was overscanning, im not sure if using the HDMI output is the issue and obviously being hooked up to TV's but when X first loads it ignores the amdccle overscan settings completely, if i force a refresh change (ie play a video) it finds the overscan value and works as it should.   I then kill X again and back to the default overscan (wrong) value.  Ive tried the latest test catalyst drivers too and no luck.  Even trying to set the values in xorg.conf didnt work.
Mean while downgrading the kernel to <3.4 and cat 12.4 has fixed the issue.

Also the latest lot of updates to libva and xvba-video has brought back the old bug in 24P mode,  frames jumping back and forth.
Think i might be locking these packages in for a while now to avoid hassle in the future.
Has anyone come across this? if so would welcome any suggestions.

Thanks
Craig

Re: The AMD/ATI Bar & Grill

Hello,
I have an issue with my notebook and the catalyst-driver. The notebook has an Ati Radeon HD4200 graphics card and I am trying to use the catalyst-hd234k legacy driver, without any success.
Installed packages:
- newest kernel 3.4.5-1
- newest Xorg-Server 1.12.3-1

What I have done:
- blacklisted radeon in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
- loaded fglrx in rc.conf (lsmod says it is loaded)
- generated new xorg.conf with "aticonfig --initial"
- added nomodeset to boot kernel line
- tryed both: catalyst-hd234k-repository and my own compiled catalyst-hd234k-total-package (from AUR)

The result is a black X-Screen (I use the lxdm login manager, but I get the black X-Screen with a manual startx-command too). I can't even switch with the alt-ctrl-f** combinations to another terminal. I can't see any errors and the logs are nearly empty (Xorg.log.0 warnings):

...
Falling back to old probe method for fglrx
...
No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0@0:xx:y) found (there are about 15 of them)
...
Module "ddc" already built-in (it is the last entry, this one is not a warning)

Nearly empty means, that "grep EE Xorg.log.0" finds only the standard lines.
lspci says, that my graphics card has been detected correctly (it's BusID doesn't appear in the "No matching Device section"-errors).
I wouldn't mind using the open source driver, but it's a notebook and the open source driver does not use all the power saving mechanics (or I am configuring it wrong...).
Do you have any idea, what this is?

And sorry for my bad english... it's not my native language :-/...

Re: The AMD/ATI Bar & Grill

Good day. I just recently updated my system. Removed my catalyst drivers and installed catalyst-Total. My pci is a Mobility Radeon HD 6620G. I got the Unsupported Hardware. I did the copy control as per instructions, rebooted but it still does not work.  Any leads that could help me solve my problem? I appreciate it.

Thanks

Im using Arch Linux x86_64

Try running the script that's in the Wiki page https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AT … fglrx_12.6
Paste that script into a text file, use chmod +x to make it executable and run it as root.
After logging out the watermark should be gone.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI_Catalyst#Tools. Summing up, Catalyst Hook is called by mkinitcpio when you do a kernel update and it runs catalyst_build_module. Catalyst Daemon is a daemon that you place in rc.conf and checks for kernel updates in order to generate an updated fglrx module; and Catalyst Generator builds an updated fglrx module, but you have to run it manually.

Reinstalling xorg / catalyst and other graphics/core system related packages didn't help.
I have reinstalled the system from daily snapshot and it works fine now. So I guess it had something to do with latest glibc update (maybe I did something wrong).

thanks for the help. I could do that but it is more than the watermark, the driver is not loading. Aside from error messages, the sluggishness tells me that the driver is not loading.

Thanks

How's that? We have the same video card...
try installing catalyst-utils and catalyst-generator from the [catalyst] repo

That's working for me, and should work for you
Are you using the stock kernel?

Does it kill it right away? or until you logout/reboot ?
