Now I am getting error messages in dmesg, with my ipod:

usb 5-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9
usb 5-1: device not accepting address 9, error -71

They seem to be of the same kind as for some of the nokia phones above.  I have seen some reports on the web of a similar problem, but from a year or two back.  Looks like a regression to me. Any hints?

I am quite desperate - need to change the podcasts on it - needless to say this used to work flawlessly until roughly a month ago.  Now the device became kinda useless.  (I hate listening to the same stuff twice).

EDIT: my photo camera connects properly with gtkam (this is not a usbstorage model though).

EDIT: hmm.  I have succeeded in mounting the ipod by trying many times (disconnecting and connecting and waiting for a short moment, before each attempt) ... this seems to be some instability in the protocol.
