KDEmod 3 with more eye candy than the default, using the snowish icons, full transparent panel, polyester windeco with flat buttons, qtcurve with a mix of flat for the inactive elements & shiny glass for the active, wallpaper is from the december screenshot gallery

If it ain't broke, broke it then fix it.

Re: December 2008 Screenshots

Hello,

I am a newbie, i have a simple question. I see some people here are using GTK themes. You obviously want your desktop, and all your applications to have a global style. Does it mean you use only GTK apps ?
If you use a non-GTK app, will it look bad ?

thank you

Re: December 2008 Screenshots

I generally tend not to care for qt based apps, but if there is a qt app that does what I need, I'll use it. It doesn't really bother me if it looks different.

Re: December 2008 Screenshots

Hey Lightspeed3e8, yeah, I use only GTK+ apps. Like Pyther, if there's a cool Qt app that I want to use, I'll install it, but at the moment I haven't got any.

EDIT: There are, however, things like GTK-Qt-engine which are designed for visual unity across multiple graphical toolkits.

You can use gtk-qt-engine for making your GTK2 apps use your QT theme. It's in extra.
There's also the reverse (i.e., making your QT apps use your GTK2 theme): qgtkstyle. It's in AUR.

Gnome Desktop w/Compiz Fusion.

I've always been a utilitarian desktop guy (openbox or fluxbox), but, thought I'd jazz up my wife's laptop. Compiz fusion is cool and functional, kinda. tongue

Hey, I see that font all the time but I'm not sure what it is. Can you give me the name? Nice job by the way!

Thanks smile The font I'm using is Tahoma from Windows XP. Size 8 on the panel, size 7 in the Openbox menu, and 7 Bold for Window Titles.

Just stick tahoma.ttf and tahomabd.ttf in the folder ~/.fonts/

I've also installed libxft-ubuntu, fontconfig-ubuntu and freetype2-ubuntu from AUR, which provide a little nicer font rendering than normal Arch.

Oh hai there! I'm a smartypants, and I'd never post a full-res screenshot, since the rules so clearly say not to. People even asked me to change it and I still didn't! I'm soooo smart!
