I agree. But a panel? How can you stand the bloat?

@Gigamo
That would be Gardener in 256color xterm slightly modified by me. As of right now you can get the file from the link in my sig. The original can be had from a quick search of vim.org.
BTW I've had your github page bookmarked for sometime now so I must have stolen something from you, glad to return the favor.
@evr
Thanks for sharing! I knew there was a little trickery in there somewhere. Very cool.

What GTK theme is that ?
It's called dust
Nice, you managed to rip off Ubuntu and Mac OSX at the same time!
yes, right... of course i HAVE TO use something different... you didn't understand anything. it's about what you can create (apps, websites, images or even spreadsheets) with your desktop, not how it's looking like.

I think this might be my favorite shot.
clean and nice
Question, i see in your .Xresources that you use : xft:DejaVu Sans Mono:pixelsize=9 apparently, is that really that in that screenshot? the font seems so small for beeing size 9...
very nice shot!

Openbox Theme: Murrina-AGT
GTK Theme: AlunDark

Yes. That is what I am using in the screenshot.
And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board is found.

Well if you're kidding about the lack of colors and the #111111 background, then
If you mean the colored PS1:

I have Openbox, Firefox, Terminator, Irssi, Conky (explanation 1 and 2), Netwmpager, Tint, Stalonetray, Sonata and Pidgin running. I'm using the hydroxygen iconsent (found in the AUR) and I have some version of the wallpaper here.
Any other questions, just email me.

For my background I currently have a little script that takes a screen-shot every 60 seconds and (theoretically) applies it as my background. I would post a screenie, but it varies massively.
Consistency is not a virtue.

I assume you don't use any semi-transparent applications right? That would get kind of anoying after a few minutes

What I don't get is this...
Say I use a blue background. Why would I take a screenshot of my desktop and set that as my wallpaper every 60 seconds when, basically, I am changing it every time I open a close an app? My desktop "wallpaper", in this train of thought, is changed every few seconds rather than every 60....

Wra!th: I mostly use full screen terminals, and firefox for web browsing, and neither are translucent (thank god)
kBang: Yes, but when I open a new virtual desktop, it would come up with some random picture that i didn't particularly like. Also, imo, a busy terminal looks cool, and also, if leave my machine, it looks like I have working terminals on each virtual desktop. I suppose it's sad, but I wrote the script to make myself look like I work solely in CLI while I can't yet leave my beloved desktop metaphor for dead. Another reason, if you have a screen-shot as your wallpaper, anyone else finds it very difficult to use your computer xD

Haha! Recently I accidently "saved" a screenshot in my wallpaper directory and I was running a script to load a random wallpaper at login. Needless to say I was a bit confused when I returned to my computer to find it had been "in use", since I am the only one that lives at my house...

After a talk on irc I was determined to make a setup that does NOT include dark backgrounds. There must be a reson for allowing us to set black as a foreground color for a change .
This is the result
Ratpoison + 100% transparent urxvt + screen
edit:
And an irssi shot. Irssi theme is simplicity

I can give you that right here. It has my pass in it, so I don't want to be editing the file everytime I backup and run scripts for my webpage:
import os
import string
#Enter your username and password below within double quotes
# eg. username="username" and password="password"
username="***********"
password="***********"
com="wget -O - https://"+username+":"+password+"@mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom --no-check-certificate"
temp=os.popen(com)
msg=temp.read()
index=string.find(msg,"<fullcount>")
index2=string.find(msg,"</fullcount>")
fc=int(msg[index+11:index2])
if fc==0:
print "0 new"
else:
print str(fc)+" new"
