Now youtube says No javascript (which is enabled) or old flashplayer (but it's new).
Still got no plugins installed.
But cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Gives this :
[root@myhost plugins]# ls
libflashplayer.so mplayerplug-in-gmp.xpt mplayerplug-in-wmp.so
libnpjp2.so mplayerplug-in-qt.so mplayerplug-in-wmp.xpt
mplayerplug-in-dvx.so mplayerplug-in-qt.xpt mplayerplug-in.so
mplayerplug-in-dvx.xpt mplayerplug-in-rm.so mplayerplug-in.xpt
mplayerplug-in-gmp.so mplayerplug-in-rm.xpt

[offtopic]For all you people that have 64 bit flash working, is there a delay on the sound? My sound is atleast 1 second behind the flash video.... which makes things unable to watch without being very annoyed[/offtopic]

Uh... nice hijack?
It's probably because you're using PulseAudio.

[offtopic]OSS actually. And technically this is getting 64bit flash to work properly... so I dont see it as a 'hijack'[/offtopic]
Problem solved!

The thread wasn't about getting Flash to work "properly", it was about getting it to work at all. Your problem is completely different from the OP's.
Offline
Yes.
My flash is not working so that was a hijack.
Anyway it seems that the plugins are there but gran paradiso (firefox) cannot access them?.

Did you install the lib32-flashplugin package in aur?

Nopes, I have never used AUR yet.
Can't I wget it or something?.

You should try that, I don't think my flash worked until I installed that package.
Offline
lib32-flashplugin is for if you are running a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit OS so I don't think it applies here but I suppose it can't hurt.
Maybe reinstall firefox.. I don't know, i'm out of ideas.

Ok TY for that.
If it's not a permissions issue then I am missing something that's only in the AUR.
I have noart or something so I just download the package and double click is that right anyone?.
Offline
do you mean yaourt? If so, you can just use yaourt -S packagename if the package is in the AUR
edit: also, instead of the flashplugin from extra, you could try flashplugin-universal from AUR as well

Enh... My Flash works fine w/o the AUR package; you probably don't need it. Have you installed `flashplugin`?
Offline
Yep installed and reinstalled flash plugin.
How about a different browser, might it be easier to set up in opera or something?.
Offline
If you install the opera from AUR, you'll need the lib32-flashplayer, since it installs the i386 version
edit: just kidding, pkgbuild differentiates between 64 and 32 bit. Try opera

Opera is cool.
The only way I get youtube now is through mplayer.
Links in forums cannot be accessed which is inconvenient.
It's like this pc is 'flash blind' for no obvious reason with firefox.
I don't get how to use AUR.
Kanne find a link.
How do I download what I need and double click?.

That link has a couple of things you could try. Definately check the permissions on the plugin directories and the output from "echo $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH". Symlinks to your home directory should not be necessary!
Offline
echo $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins:/opt/mozilla/lib/plugins
How come pacman -S opera shows nothing?.
'opera not found'
Am I cursed?.
Maybe my repos are wobbly.
Found opera in ARchlinuxfr repo.
Still no flash in opera (Grrrr).

pacman -Ss opera
... in theory. But I think it's only available from the AUR or archlinuxfr.
... still: does the console you started say anything interesting or did you just confirm that starting firefox from console worked?
(and sorry that I ask such a silly thing, but are you possibly already starting firefox in safe mode all the time and that's why the plug-in doesn't load?)

Nopes, I start Firefox in normal mode.
This is baffling.
Even Opera does not work with Youtube.

Bump...
I have to say Flash in firefox is a nasty pain in the butt.
[Edit - Update]
Well hit me with a frozen Haddock..
# chmod -R 755 /usr/lib/mozilla
Fixed it. A little gem from the Wiki.
After running that about:plugins shows them all and ahem, Youtube is now working.

Edit: lol, I left the computer and forgot to click submit on this post. In the meantime you figured it out!
I would say it's more than flash that's giving you trouble since you have several plugins in the correct folder but none of them show up in about:plugins.
Try this:
Open a terminal and use su to switch to the root user. Start firefox as root and check about:plugins. If you have plugins listed now, it's probably a permission problem on /usr/lib/mozilla or /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Check them with:
ls -ld /usr/lib/mozilla
ls -ld /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Permissions on both folders should be rxwr-xr-x

I'd recommend you, to try and undo unnecessary "fixes" while you still remember most of what you did (if your current system isn't still the "testing run" and you plan on keeping it).

I only did the stuff in this thread which should be ok I suppose it would only affect firefox.
But yes I dont want this setup to topple over.
It's the full Arch not testing.

Oh, if it's only those two, you can leave it. You'll get the first one when you try to remove all orphans without messing anything up at some point...
And the second one should mostly fix itself, when flashplugin in the repo is updated. Maybe (then) you also will need to:
$ rm ~/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
$ rmdir ~/.mozilla/plugins
So firefox doesn't use the old copy. Or if that breaks something:
$ mkdir ~/.mozilla/plugins
$ cp /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins
... well, you'll see when it's updated - no idea.
