Jayzer wrote:

Do you mean the font or the smoothing?

Font: Aller size 9
DPI is manually set to 96x96

Smoothing: I use the -ubuntu patched versions of fontconfig/cairo/freetype/libxft from AUR with this config:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>
  <match target="font" >
    <edit mode="assign" name="rgba" >
      <const>rgb</const>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match target="font" >
    <edit mode="assign" name="hinting" >
      <bool>true</bool>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match target="font" >
    <edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle" >
      <const>hintslight</const>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match target="font" >
    <edit mode="assign" name="antialias" >
      <bool>true</bool>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match target="font">
    <edit mode="assign" name="lcdfilter">
      <const>lcddefault</const>
    </edit>
  </match>
</fontconfig>

set as local.conf in /usr/share/fonts/

No idea why, but slight hinting is the only one that seems to look any good on my system.

Oh, and the wallpaper for jaem: http://i26.tinypic.com/xmln5w.png

Conky config has been posted in the conky thread.

As a little fyi for people unfamiliar with font smoothing etc, I had fantastic success using sharp font settings from http://www.sharpfonts.com/

But as the site says, its personal preference. I like my pixels!

Beautiful stuff DA! I've been following your blog too, but haven't had much time to comment.  No need to refer to them as my colours either, since they're mostly taken from (or influenced by) the molokai theme--I just slapped them into my Xdefaults, tweaked a couple shades and called it done smile

Re: July 2009 Screenshots

Not much of an update to my openbox; this conky isn't as long as my other computer (wider screen), but I did add the updating weather radar to my background with a modification of evr's script
