Re: gnome unstable repository

JGC,
I think gdm package should create its own home directory, from http://library.gnome.org/admin/gdm/2.28 … figuration :

These defaults can be overridden if the "gdm" user has a writable $HOME directory to store GConf settings.

Also, perhaps i am blind but i cant find the new gksu (http://live.gnome.org/gksu), do you have it in any of your new packages yet ?

This repository has been merged with core/extra, so as soon as your mirror updates, please stop using it. I think it will disappear somewhere this week.

Will you provide a patched metacity version to solve that nasty Compiz issue?

Re: gnome unstable repository

Metacity has already been patched to fix that bug. Unless the upstream patch in bugzilla didn't fix it, the issue should be fixed.

Re: gnome unstable repository

Great work jgc, metacity bug is no more, I've loaded dvd successfully and eject button works also. Will report if dvd burning works (probably tonight doesn't have anything to burn right now) and gnome notification area is working fine for now. Me happy big_smile

Only gdm lacks configuration gui (gdm-config) and when I edit /etc/gdm/config.conf nothing changes. But it's a minor minor issue...

Thanx again big_smile

Re: gnome unstable repository

@Mazur..... its been safe to _Syyu for quite a while for 2.28.. I've been running it for a couple weeks now.

I did last nights updates, part of which included going to the newest kernel available, poppler 12 and then some other things. My brightness level buttons no longer work, not that its bad because my brightness level stays constant now.

If I changed the brightness level with this one liner: echo -n 100 > /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/LCD/brightness

it would go up to 100%. Now it just says not supported. Which is interesting? Is this from the changes above? Does that new KMS control/automagick these settings now? Or is this a Gnome thing?

Re: gnome unstable repository

gdm 2.28 doesn't have (for now) a way like the old gdm-setup for configuring themes\styles etc.
You can only change gtk-style, fonts, & background by using

gksudo -u gdm dbus-launch gnome-appearance-properties

like said from Blaster on the previous page of this thread wink

Re: gnome unstable repository

Ok.... this new way is not bad at all
Just a few things that bother me...

1: I dont want user list, how to remove it
2: I dont wanna language menu
3: I dont need layout menu

How to fix that?

P.S.

"Assistive Technologies" is autostarting... It is not in sessions... and I did not place it anywhere... Could it be gdm? How to turn it off?
