+1

No, not yet...
ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/gnome-unstable/os/
Keep an eye on this ;-)
I think that JGC shouldn't bother with prerelease, now that stable tarballs will be released the day after tomorrow... Could be uploaded then straight to testing...

x86_64 is up with most of 2.28 final now. Updated i686 packages will follow soon.

Yay! Evo ML released 2.28 already.
Sigh, the poor x86_64 users still have to wait.

Don't have to wait, jgc uploaded x86_64 packages... Just add gnome-unstable repo...
Unresolved dep libcups and libldap, I've just Syud, report back later if it works...
WOW! CPU get's throttled, I have constant 50% cpu usage, where X, gconfd2 and gnome-session is eating most of the cpu time.
Clock applet doesn't work, gnome-power-manager also (that's normal because of the switch to devicekit)...
I recommend that everyone for now have a backup solution for DE...

Cool. Let us know how it goes. Don't have the connection to do downloads right now....

For x86_64 you'll need testing to satisfy dependencies. The i686 version needs some rebuilds/updates for libldap still.
Offline
Thnx jgc, enabled testing, installed libldap and libcups...
Problem with cpu usage is caused by compiz, when I switch to metacity the problem remains but when I restart and have metacity by default cpu usage is just fine.

x86_64 seems to be working fine over here, thanks JGC

Ok, I've solved clock and power-manager issue (have some unsatisfied deps because I've Syud it), only compiz cpu consuption issue remains...
Great work...

Bad, bad, bad...

Yeah I know, but I didn't know that testing had to be enabled ;-)
Yaourt gave me what dep's are unsatisfied so I've patched things up...
Funny thing about this compiz issue is that sometimes when I want to logout it says that uknown app is not responding, and when I press cancel to go back to gnome desktop the cpu consumption is gone? When I logout it says that process was not responding and it gives me PID, heh, I've redirected ps output before that in a file and it points out that the process is gnome-session ?

Everything seems to work fine on x86_64, thanks for the packages JCG !
But the thing is, what have been doing the gnome developpers during 6 months ? Because I don't see any differences between before and after the update (but no new bugs so it's cool).
I did saw a new disk utility, but we already have gparted so why spend time rewriting another one ?
Anyway, I like gnome but I just stopped expecting new ideas coming from there releases...

I've added this repo to pacman.conf:
[gnome-unstable]
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/gnome-unstable/os/x86_64/
but when trying to install f.e. gnome-panel there is still 2.26. What's wrong with it?
Offline
It must be on top of all the other repos.
Enable testing just below the gnome-unstable repo.
The sync and install gnome 2.28.
---
I personally have pacman -Sw it, and i'm gonna install it tomorrow (perhaps)

This unstable release is working with pulseaudio, or we have to wait for that?

Does this new powermanager with more devkit features (hdd spindown) mean better power managment and better battery life?
I have just moved from xfce to gnome, and I have noticed that autonomy is about 15min less.

Yop, little error:
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: alacarte: requires gnome-menus>=2.28.0
but:
`--> yaourt gnome-menus
1 gnome-unstable/gnome-menus 2.27.92-1 [installed]
Edit: forced it with pacman -Sd, works perfectly

Does anybody suffers from compiz issue (agressive cpu usage).
I get this error:
WARNING: Application calling GLX 1.3 function "glXCreatePixmap" when GLX 1.3 is not supported! This is an application bug!
Tried with xorg from git and xorg from arch repo's and nothin'...
I saw that there were bug reports about this issue on gnome 2.28 that were filed yesterday...
edit: nah, i've just pulled mesa from git and they fixed the warning's but the problem remains
