i found this:

Write a shell script to start your server.

Issue the command "cd ~/urbanterror/" to make sure you are in the root urbanterror directory. Using you text editor, make a file called start.sh, in the file you wish to have the following.

"#!/bin/bash

while true
do
/home/urt/urbanterror/ioUrTded.i386 +set fs_game q3ut4 +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 27960 +set com_hunkmegs 128 +exec server.cfg
echo "server crashed on `date`" > last_crash.txt
done"

This script will automatically restart your game server should it crash. Useful also because a /RCON quit command will reset you server the old fashioned way.

You can now start you server by issuing the command "sh start.sh"

If you wish to run this as a screen, which you probably do make sure you have the application screen (if not check their website for details on how to install it), issue the command

"screen -m -d -S UrT-Server sh start.sh"

This will then run the server in the screen, and you will not shutdown your server when you terminate your shell. You are finished, good job! Now go play.

Oy, think I'd never play before. I'm guessing the server is on the list but going through the 1000 server list could take some time. . How do you add a custom server?

managed to set-up the script and get it working properly with arch, the server _should_ now autorestart if it crashes.

@Gen2ly:
1. start game
2. play online
3. click on "source" (bottom of your screen) until it displays "Favorites"
4. click create favorite
5. name: whatever you fancy
6. ip: 82.75.178.242
7. click ok
8. click Set Password: "archisthebest"
9. enjoy

currently it's a 12 player free for all, feel free to suggest changes guys gametypes, maps, limits

I have RCON enabled (remote control for votes, map switches etc). The password is "archisthebest"

Tried the server stefan, doing pretty good. Had a few connect interrupts but am thinking the load at 8pm NE is probably at max.

Hrmm, never played this game before but it looks like fun. Now, is the server going to complain if I use the 4.1-6 build in AUR or should I be using the 4.1-1 build? Does it matter? Searched the forums but didn't really find anything pertaining to this question.

scratch the question, going with the 4.1-6 build. It has the most votes. Yes, I'm an Arch newb, been using it for two days and I can't stop playing with pacman and yaourt.

I did some updates to get rid of this:

This is a very important security update. About 2 months ago we released a security fix for the Vote System expoilt that allowed people to steal control of your servers. Up until now the damage has been minimal, however, there are now people activly using this method in Europe and in which case most likely to spread almost everywhere!

It is very important that all server admins use the new server binary. At the moment we only have this file for linux in 32bit. This can be found here. I have had reports from many people within the community about there servers being stolen.

All future released of Urban Terror will have this patch included. If you do not use the above binary, i strongly suggest turning voting off. Thanks!
