I'm interested in your PS1 and in what you do to colorize the output of commands such as a "w" or a "ping www.google.com"

Re: November 2009 Screenshots

i gotta ask, how can you all stand the light on dark schemes?  I am under the impression you all spend lots of time behind the computer, and to have such schemes sounds like agony to me!
especially if you are like me and you go between looking at the monitor and your surroundings a lot, your eyes must get tired.

they are works of art though.  my experience has always been that usability and aesthetics rarely mix well...  i'd like to refer you all to the plan9 interface.  ugly but brilliant (try it sometime).

Re: November 2009 Screenshots

@luceroz: The rest of my work environment is often a little dim too, a high brightness theme would be the one with the high contrast to the surroundings.
(same image as in august, I'm pretty happy with my current setup, I'll just provide it as reference.)

I need a sorted list of all random numbers, so that I can retrieve a suitable one later with a binary search instead of having to iterate through the generation process every time.

hmmm.... am I the only one, then, that works in the light?  I often have some blinds open to get some natural light as well.  if I started using some dark themes I think I would get cataracts.

staring at monitor = staring into light bulb = migraine

I have to use linux primarily because I can't look at bright screens or I get sick. (windows can't really be customized as much) Its either a dark theme or I can't use a computer. I keep my room pretty dark as well, since bright lights and sunlight also give me migraines. I have a night job and pretty much don't go out during the day. My friends say I'm a vampire. lol  And what's really hilarious? Migraine drugs cause photo-sensitivity (means you get a rash and hives if sunlight shines on the skin) So even when I do take meds I still can't go outside. Unless its dark/cloudy. I love it when its cloudy. I Always go for a walk then.

Re: November 2009 Screenshots

@luceroz: Well, my home computier time is often after sundown (0258 atm), dimming the lights in the room is only normal (to me).

Its actually not good for your eyes to have too bright of a surrounding when looking at a monitor.

Sig on this...

I can't do anything on a dark background (especially code for a long time). It kills my eyes. White background with black letters (and not too much brightness) is much easier on my eyes.

check his blog. For colors, he uses a color wrapper package.  I use it also.

I also would like a copy of his new colors!  They are smooth.

How are you liking openBSD?
i've been using netbsd for the past month or so as my primary desktop, but i can only run current,
need something a little more stable until netbsd 6.0, and im not wanting to go with FreeBSD again, right now atleast.

nice Desktop Btw, im pretty sure most of my configs originated from yours and wraiths, sadly i've done them no justice.

Shame on you tongue
OpenBSD is great, but the "help" community is worse than Gentoo's. They give new meaning to the word `elitist`
