Xfce with Openbox replacing Xfwm. Openbox is a lot faster and more responsive than xfwm IMO. Dual panels. I can't let that go. It's what happens when you use Gnome2 for 4 years wink

Re: Show off your XFCE desktop!

I updated mine quite a bit. Using XFCE + Compiz.

Note: The busy screenshot is a bit faked, as I have 3x3 virtual desktops, and firefox has it's own. Using Compiz's awesome grid plugin for 'tiling' of a sort.

Emerald Theme = Modified vesrion of rezlooks
gtk theme: BSM Simple Dark Panel
Icons = Elementary Dark

I can post the script for the now playing/system info if anyone is interested, it uses genmon to display it.

There really isn't a whole lot of manual configuring with this setup. With the exception of adding Openbox it's mostly default Xfce stuff, but here's what I did to replace xfwm with openbox:

Open this file in your favorite text editor or nano/vi : /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-session.xml

Scroll down to where it says

<property name="Client0_Command" type="array">
        <value type="string" value="xfwm4"/>

and replace "xfwm4" with "openbox." Save it and add open up the xfce "session and startup" and add openbox. I then went to Sessions and killed xfwm4. Then I rebooted and selected "save session for future logins." When I logged back in it worked... I should say that I had no idea how to switch out window managers in xfce when I tried this. I have very little experience with Xfce. I just made an educated guess and it worked. If anyone knows a better way to do it please share it wink

It is the Faenza icon theme indeed, you can also find it in AUR together with fixes for the wicd tray icon etc.

EDIT: Fixed the url...

That's right, I forgot.  The default one is pretty ugly so searched for an other one but I can't remember where I found it. It was probably  somewhere on deviantart but I uploaded the icon here:
http://ompldr.org/vYmY0aQ/pidgin.svg
Just set it as a custom icon for pidgin.

Try these toketin:

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … ent=133153
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … ent=134347 (don't know if that one includes the Pidgin you want, but it is in a package like this)

works perfect!!! now i will touch and configure openbox and then i will post my new desktop big_smile

Found it somewhere on the forum and only made a small change to align it on the left side:

${execpi 60 DJS=`date +%_d`; cal | sed '1d' | sed '/./!d' | sed 's/$/                     /' | fold -w 21 | sed -n '/^.\{21\}/p' | sed 's/^/ /' | sed /" $DJS "/s/" $DJS "/" "'${color3}'"$DJS"'${color1}'" "/}${color1}

You shouldn't leave your laptop plugged in when the battery is fully charged.

Overcharging a battery is generally a bad idea and lessens battery life. At least from what I've read that's the case. What I do is fully charge it, then drain the battery. It supposedly is a better way to take care of your battery.

Re: Show off your XFCE desktop!

afaik with current battery tech, overcharging is impossible unless your laptop's charger or battery is malfunctioning. They have built in chips/sensors to prevent it.
