i have a system76 starling.  it came with ubuntu out of the box, which i booted into once to make sure the hardware worked.  since then it's been arch all the way!  make sure you install laptop-mode-tools to tweak hdd and power settings.  wicd works great for wireless.  the slight drawback is that you're forced to use the i686 build of arch (and any other distro) because of the atom processor, which is ubiquitous in the netbook market.
