I also had this horrible flickering (and a black screen when switching back to TTY1) on my Asus EEE Box B202 (with Intel 945GME chipset).

It turned out that this was probably due to (unknowingly) using KMS together with Xorg VESA driver (and using video=791 framebuffer activator). I'm now using xf86-video-intel and apart from some other old problem (which I managed to workaround, I'll describe soon) the flickering is gone.

Re: xorg intel glitches

Got the same problem since months. Until now I refrained from using 2.6.32 but got it installed today by mistake. Using kernel26-rc (currently 2.6.33rc8) from AUR solved the problem.

Nope, screen still goes black once in a while... sad Anyone else still affected by this problem?

Re: xorg intel glitches

For me 2.6.33-rc8 fixed it too.

Re: xorg intel glitches

I appended "enable_mtrr_cleanup" and "nopat" to my kernel line. This prevent my screen from going black (or green or blue or pink) so far. Still have flickers though, but not as bad as in the beginning.

Re: xorg intel glitches

I grabbed the latest kernel26-rc from AUR (2.6.34rc1), which while having much less flicker than the 2.6.32.9 kernel in base does not completely eliminate it.  Appending the i915.powersave=0 option to grub has no effect, and I can't disable KMS because xorg will not run without it.  Does only 2.6.33-rc8 manage to completely eliminate the flicker? sad

Hey, after the latest 2.6.33 kernel moving to [core], this problem still exists in my box(things being much better, but still not completely eliminated as you said). Anyone else?

Similarly, I get a black screen a few minutes after resuming, if I don't add additional options to the grub kernel line. No progress for me. sad

Re: xorg intel glitches

bump this thread again.

It looks like this glitch problem remains in kernel 2.6.34, isn't it?

I haven't had any serious issues since the upgrade, not even after resuming, which I did over 10 times so far. I'm a happy camper, finally. smile
