Noticed you have colored output in rtorrent, mind sharing how you achieved that

Thanks

Re: Share your Awesome(WM) desktop!

These five screens are all of the same screen, just in different states. In search of simplicity I have tried to only show the actual info that I need, and use symbols and colours rather than text (except for the date, i like that spelled out).

There are 6 widgets atm. From left to right:
1. Tag view (named tagreduce). It shows the current tag only, but expands and shows all tags on mouse over (could be triggered by shortcut also). If there are any urgent tags they get shown also (in the unexpanded view)
2. Clock and date. Nothing special here
3. Battery Power. Uses colour to indicate approximate state, and has a naugty popup on mouseover.
3. Volume. Uses colour to indicate approximate volume and has a naughty popup on mouseover. Volume can be adjusted by scrolling, and mute toggled with right mouse
4. Irc notification widget. This is a bit complex as it interacts with weechat. It shows naughty notifications on joins/messages, highlights on activity (in case you miss a notification). It can also be set to several states, to turn off notifications, only show hightlight notifications or show all. It still needs some work but is working pretty good atm.
5. Layout. I work a lot on laptops and netbooks, so it is almost always on max.

The first screen is the default state.
The second screen is a hover over the tag widget
The third is a default state, but with an urgent tag
The fourth is a hover over the tag widget, but with an urgent tag.
The fifth shows a mouseover of the IRC widget with activity registered in the #archlinux channel (surprise).

I do not have the config up at the moment, but if anyone requests it I will clean it up and see about getting it posted somewhere.

I really like your setup and would love to see those configs smile

Is this a setup on a netbook? Looks like the screen is rather small.

Hi, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but well, you know...

I have put up my current config, and some of the widgets I use, on github, but they are not all there right now. Perhaps I will get them cleaned up and put up today, perhaps later smile

If you have any questions with regards to the setup I will be glad to try and help.

And yes, it is a netbook, hence my need for a clean layout...

Hope you can use it.

Edit: Try actually linking to github -_-

I had to clean it up a bit, and write some docu...

It is on github now. The weechat plugin that uses it is also up there...

Any suggestions for improvements are most welcome. I am not a heavy duty IRC user, so some of the usage patterns may need improvement/customization. I would be glad to make it more generic to suit more tastes.

Re: Share your Awesome(WM) desktop!

I started using awesome after being disappointed by so many GUI apps in Linux, and after seeing the screenshots in this thread. It's an interesting setup. Please keep the screenshots coming.

Could you post some additional information? What version do you use (I use 4.4.3 and have not tested with older versions). Can you paste the output your crash should generate? If you start awesome from xinitrc then you can pipe its output into a file like this:

exec awesome > /tmp/xsession.log 2>&1

Feel free to mail me about this, to keep this thread free of bughunting.

Very nice weechat! What do you use to display your highlights like that?

Awesome has a simple menu system, but personally I don't use it at all. I launch all my apps via hardcoded shortcuts or the Run action (run commands by typing their name, with autocompletion)
