I really like your icons, did you draw them or did you find them somewhere?
Is there a way to get an image and text widget inside a compound widget, or do you have to create single '[' widgets to get the brackets around the icons?

Thanks I used TheImmortalPhoenix's icons from his 'coloured awsome' series (not sure if he created them himself or got them from somewhere). If you download his Blue awesome tarball, you can get the icons from within there.
In regard to the question of the brackets, I'm not sure, I simply made individual text widgets for them Ended up removing them though in my most recent shot, too much bloat in the Wibox for me!

Thanks, I will have a look at those icons.
Meanwhile I kind of used your initial brackety thing as inspiration for my first & simple awesome wm setup:
It's a real shame you removed that "bloat"

Ah well, each to their own! I find it easier on the eyes on my 11" MacBook's screen.

Hi, all of my config features can be disabled in rc.lua, all is modular so if you dont want them, comment a line. You have to use my config to have the tags looking like this. It is not a modified theme, I rewrote the taglist from scratch to support more theme options. This rewrite depend on other of my own widgets, so it can not be cherrypicked. Take a look at https://github.com/Elv13/awesome-config … _ui/rc.lua all features have one comment line and one line to enable/disable them.
Using my config with disabled features wont slow down awesome, in fact, it make it a little faster because I added some optimizations (that can't be merged in awesome) to my custom version of shifty, vicious, awful and freedesktop.
Edit: those screenshot were taken from the "new_ui" branch

which version did you update to? fix to the last vicious i made: vicious = require("vicious") and beautiful = require("beautiful") instead of require("vicious") / require("beautiful").
my widgets still work after this.....
cheers

My first ever experience with a tiling wm and awesome was a really nice WM to start with... Here are my first baby steps in the attempt to customise and colorise...
Haven't changed anything in the Awesome configs and just applied the sky theme. Colorised Xterm to match.... hope to post some more screenshots soon...

Just wanted to add that I've been able to minimize windows in Awesome from the default taskbar... of course it can be set up with any other panel a la Openbox... but i feel default taskbar isn't lacking in any way...

I just never seen the need for being able to minimize the windows in a tiling wm...

I was tired of my black and blue theme so I created a new one:
White version (which I do not use and would need some color re-definitions):

And black version which is the one I use:

It's dfc, a program I wrote. It's on the AUR.
