Nice! (No svg, so I guess you don't work with Inkscape either. Or do you? tongue)

Could you try to center the archhurd tag (vertically) somehow?

Re: VOTE: Logo contest: Arch Hurd [vote now over]

I think the top one would match the website best. You could make a archhurd-artwork package which features the other ones, so they could be used on other artwork such as wallpapers.

EDIT: But a new thread with a poll (which includes all the submissions in this thread of course) would be best!
EDIT2: And I think you should set a deadline, when the voting will begin. That way others will have the chance to submit/improve their ideas, too.

Re: VOTE: Logo contest: Arch Hurd [vote now over]

I think these would be perfect to show the project's general progress. You could start with the last one and, when, say, 50 % is done, switch to the middle one… You get the idea.

Nice logos, thoughtcrime. smile

Thanks!

I don't think that you can tell when a distribution is done (especially for a rolling release one) big_smile

Re: VOTE: Logo contest: Arch Hurd [vote now over]

I prefer the "GNU/Hurd distribution" over the "hurd distribution", but that's easily changed.

I thought about that, too. But the archlinux logo also does just use "linux", so I kept it in the same way. Besides, the archlinux logo does not use capital letters, so it looks a bit strange in my opinion.

Re: VOTE: Logo contest: Arch Hurd [vote now over]

Also you could do away with the slash and use GNU Hurd since Hurd is GNU software.

Or just "a GNU distribution"?

I guess that this would mean that archhurd would only use free software. I don't know whether they want that (archlinux does not).

Who are you implying as "they" and who is "archlinux"? Anyways back on topic, saying that it is a GNU distribution does not imply that you are using purely free software. Its just means that it uses GNU software. Even wikipedia uses the term GNU/Linux distribution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_distribution

I am just not quite sure if "GNU Linux" means the same as "GNU/Linux". But this is really getting off-topic here.

I added a deadline to the first post, Friday the 22nd—to give people plenty of time to make submissions.

Though, if it looks like submissions have dried up I'll move the deadline.
