Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

ArchBang x86_64 dd to CF disk took 60seconds.

Placed CF card in sata2CF adapter (scsi0) and booted from Intel prompt to desktop in 13 seconds.

Pacman -Ud installed from local raid cache 30 packages in seven seconds. Edit: 80MB..

Am posting from that setup.

Sure beats walkin' !!!!

Great stuff gents..Ctk also boots from the CF slot.

Cozy as can be!!!  EDIT: System is all flash CF cards......

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

Hmm I'm still unable to reproduce this error. However Will confirmed that bug. The weird part is it is happening unpredictably. He reinstalled a few times and that error only occurred once.

Can you check one thing? When you boot the live CD, does the xorg.conf say intel or vesa? Does it work with failsafevesa? I'm talking about "pre-install" only!

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

when booting archbang on a compaq laptop with geforce 8200M, selecting y or n when asked if nvidia card is greater than fx series results in x not starting(also in failsafe vesafb mode), checking the Xorg.0.log revealed that the gf card is unsupported. So installed nvidia which had a conflict with libgl which inturn could not be removed as ati-dri, vesa-dri etc depends on it, finally -Rd'd it and installed nvidia.

My query is that are geforce mobile cards really unsupported?

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

According to: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_disp … 90.53.html

8200M G is supported with 190.53 driver which is what we are providing! Can you check one thing? Boot the CD and if it says "not supported" use:

pacman-Rd libgl && pacman-U /src/pkgs/nvidia*

Does that work? That is installing from /src/pkgs.

Not possible. We already use minimal packages. You can always pacman -R whatever you don't need!

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

After years downloading it, finally I have tested it on Virtualbox, and here's some feedback:
- Good choice of the default theme, a lot better than that old dark one. (opinion of course)
- When I click "install" on the menu, it displays a message saying only root can use it. Why don't use prepend xterm and sudo right on the menu?
- I was not able to use ext4 for /home, which works fine on official arch disk.

I can't test it without virtualization now, but I'll later when I have some time.

I intentionally kept it like that. The reason is that, the live-user don't require a password to perform sudo operations. However it is our duty to inform them that what they are trying to do requires "sudo", I guess I added a layer of transparency so that the users [however knowledgeable they maybe] are aware of what they are about to do. If people disagree with this decision, I can always change it. smile

Will check it out.

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

Could somebody please try those torrents out and see if they do work on your end and post a short "OK"? Thanks!

Somebody is downloading, so it seems to work smile Happy leeching.
Oh and _PLEASE_ seed after downloading. My seed is on my server (100Mbit) so your downloads should be pretty fast if your connection supports it, but I have a 3TB traffic limit for this server, so please seed after downloading so that I can stop seeding from the server after a while.

I'm the one downloading the 32bit version right now. It is working.

I'm seeding the 64bit that I had already downloaded from omploader.

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

With Ctk in the scsi0 position, I boot in 13 secs.

After setting up wicd, raid, etcetra, I enter cp2ram and it copies in 10 secs after which I can remove the  Ctk CF card .

I am in Ctk cp2ram as I post this info. Midori is the vehicle with google.

The CF card in use with Ctk is an adata 266x 2GB turbo.
Very similar performance to ArchBang.

ArchBang in the 2.0 version provides usb audio with the intel selection at boot prompt.  Many thanks for that gents!
