@dusty:
that was there that everyone get it, that kde3.4 packages are available.
not everyone reads forum or ML and i wanted to reach most people
i have to remove apache from kdesdk as depend that was a misleading namcap check, sorry for that.
btw i haven't to remove anything on my system all went fine after update. in /var/tmp kbuildsyscoca stuff is saved but that should be updated while starting kde. Or you have to run kbuildsyscoca as user after login.

No evil monster shall deal with lucke. He chocked out that kget after reinstalling kdenetwork. But I wonder if he's still hiding something from me :-)
As for new features, I like that new bogofilter meter in kmail (shows bogo's score). Other than that, konqueror seems to populate my mp3 folder way faster than before. It shows the contents immediately, while it took him few seconds to do that earlier. More exploring to follow.
Cheers,
lucke

Thank you again for this build.
I have not had any problems on an SIS735 based board, but I keep getting artsd crashes on an nForce2 system.

Maybe it should be installed near to kde 3.3, and it should be started by startx3.4 or sth? (I want to have both 3.3 and 3.4beta versions, is it possible?).

kde-i18n packages are now also available (at least some of them)
new kdewebdev and kdesdk packages will come on the weekend with fixed depends
@abbandon
that's difficult to achieve because there are other kdeapps like k3b and amarok that might not work if you use it parallel
that was one of the reasons for putting it in my tur and not in unstable, but ask the others i don't see any unstability in this kde beta, but make a backup of your .kde and Mail if you use kmail that you can restore it if it fails

Removing /tmp/* and /var/tmp/* helped. Still there are some minor problems, but ... it's usable.

@tpowa

here is the relevent cvs comitt (Revision 1.44).

Another minor bug, the screen saver does not want to 'require password to stop'.

KDEadmin does not seem to work here.
Whenever I insert the root password it informs me:
Command 'kcmshell kdm --embed 4195742 --lang en_US' not found.
...and quits.
(Same thing using greek i18n).
Some themes display the default fonts funnily: the underlined letter appears either in a colored box, or with a (!) before it. Some display them right, though.

Lot of "windows decoration" are gone. KView does not work. Recompiled systray 2.0 have problems. KGet seems to disappeared.
Yes, it's surly a beta version.
Anyway, thanks for packages. I can't wait to see final release.

Sorry for the newb question but: is there a wiki on how to use TURs?
I added tpowa's repositories to pacman.conf, did -Syu, and then did -S kdebase-3.3.91-1 (and variants) but it says the package isn't in db. I know I'm missing something here....

hi for those with problems and apps or decoration disappearing
install the packages again then it should work, have to install some packages twice then they appeared again
kview works fine for me
EDIT:
@scarecrow
kdm config runs fine for me too
i can insert my root password no problem here

Yeah, I got a segmentation fault the first install and did not notice, then it looked like a bunch of stuff was missing or not working. I also cleared out the /tmp stuff and set up a new ~/.kde dir.
My kview is working.
nacnud, make sure you put tpowas repository at the top, then just 'pacman -S kde'. You only need the full package name when you are doing a 'pacman -A ...'. The mirror that you are using may not have all of the packages (probably ok by now). You can just enter the url in a browser and check it out. look for a bunch of kde*-3.3.91-1.pkg.tar.gz files.

latest pacman release seems to have some problems with package upgrades.
so if you want to be on the safe side, please do first a pacman -Rd kde and then reinstall the new kde 3.4 beta.
i informed judd about the problem.

I also got a segfault with the latest pacman- I just repeated the upgrade and the second time it went OK.
[tpowa] repo has to be on the very top of the pacman.conf repo list.
kview and kget are working OK here, but...
SIM shuts down after switching keyboard language for a second time, its compiled from CVS which means I may have to recompile.
K3B is also compiled from CVS, but it seems to work fine- same applies for krusader.

Yeah, that reinstalling stuff is pretty tricky. One time I got some progs, next time I don't, depending on the sequence of install O_o Little annoyances made me turn back to 3.3, but let me brief you on them, maybe you don't experience them, thus clear reinstall would help me to solve them :-)
Firstly, when I click on 'show desktop' button on my bottom panel and open some konqueror window using the icon on the desktop, it opens in the background, beneath already opened windows. I've tried to go over this by creating a sidepanel with desktop shortcuts, but it didn't work properly either. Other than that, those icons from 'viewmode_toolbar' (including filelight, cervisia and file size) doesn't seem to be displayed properly. While this isn't very irritating, the first issue surely is.
So, does anyone have the same problems?
Cheers,
lucke

It seems that somehow imagemagick is screwed up with the new kde. I get this:
[colnago@arch ~]$ convert img.jpg img.gif
convert: error while loading shared libraries: libltdl.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I fail to see how imagemagick related to kde , anyway imagemgick work fine for me .

As mentioned earlier, putting tpowa's repo at the top of the repos list in pacman.conf should help (so it's above extra repo).
