Hey, I tried kfaenza and elementary icon themes, they both work fine here.  Maybe try deleting the *.cache files in ~/.config/qtfm and start it again.

I don't know what to say, the issue persists with newer kfaenza icon theme (0.8.6)

Again, resizing the window, refreshing with F5 or hitting back button and reopen the folder is ok, also this happens only at certain zoom levels.

Another thing with thumbs: changing zoom level while the folder is loading, still blocks the ui for long time.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

I don't know whats up.  I tried every zoom level, I can't break it.  The only thing I can think of is try a different Qt theme.  What are you using, QtCurve or something.  Try cleanlooks or gtk+ and see if it does it.

Does it happen with normal icons aswell, or only thumbs?

It happens only with thumbs.
I even tried to change font family and size, tried cleanlooks too, nothing.
Also, oxygen icon gives the same results as kfaenza; the only workaround seems tango icons ^_^

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

I'm running openbox and gtk and have no icons at all except for directorys. I've tried editing .gtkrc-2.0 and applying several icon themes including faenza, tango, oxygen and more. I've tried forcing the theme in qtfm.conf as well. I don't worry too much about it, but I'm sure I've missed something although I've read this whole thread.

Starting qtfm from terminal gives no clues. Neither does the logs.
PS no thumbs either.
PPS All else is superb!

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

If I copy or move files by drag and drop between two instances of qtFM, it doesn't work if files or folders are selected in the target instance.  I don't see any error messages, but the files aren't moved or copied.

If no files or folders are selected in the target, then it works ok.

I'm using qtFM v5.0 on Arch Linux.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

@kokoko3k I don't see how/why the icon theme affects the thumbs.  Does it happen only when there is a mix of thumbs and normal icons in the same view.  What if there is only thumbs?  The icon size and grid size are fixed (for a zoom level), so I don't know why its buggering up the layout.

@swansonWhoa...wtf!...That's a disaster man!  What do mean no file icons?  Do you get the generic plain white icon for all files, or do you literally mean its blank, nothing but the text label?  Did you try deleting all the cache files in ~/.config/qtfm between trying different themes just to make sure.

@GimmeeSpam Can't replicate that, it works ok for me, regardless if there is anything selected in the target instance or not.  Anyone else have this issue?

@Wittfella; it's no disaster! It's an adventure with your new filemanager! Seriously speaking it's light. fast and great.

I'll try and delete the cache and see what happens. Yes, I have no generic icons what so ever on any files, just filenames. Directories have icons, always the same blue one of which I can't tell the origin.

Deleteted all *.cache files in .config/qtfm - no change.

But; I have this installed;
32 extra/qt 4.7.4-3 [24,75 M] [installed]
A cross-platform application and UI framework
33 extra/qt3 3.3.8-20 [7,23 M] [installed]
    The QT3 gui toolkit

Both qt3 and qt4 which might be the  fault?

Where are your icons, /usr/share/icons?
Do you have a /usr/share/mime directory?

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Well...its impossible it doesn't work ;p

1. Delete the whole ~/.config/qtfm folder
2. Open ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and set the gtk-icon-theme-name="Tango" (exactly same name as theme folder, capitalisation matters)
3. Start qtfm

If you don't see nice icons I'm throwing myself off a bridge!

edit: have you tried 5.1.beta?  It has even more failsafe checks for the theme if you want to try that

You can stay away from that bridge!!!! Yay, it's working!

Thanks!

EDIT: I can even change this; gtk-icon-theme-name="Tango" to what I want!

I tested this some more, and I got it to work if I have icon view off and detailed list off in the target instance.  But it doesn't work if I have either icon view on or detailed list on in the target instance (and if folders or files are selected in the target instance).

I also noticed when my source qtfm instance is in icon view, dragging and dropping a file to my target instance without the ctrl key pressed COPIES the file.  If the source instance has icon view off, then dragging and dropping without the ctrl key pressed MOVES the file.  Ideally the behavior should be the same.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

@gimmeSpam

Ok, I see it now.  I've been playing around and found that it's the mouseTracking() that is enabled for icon and detail modes (when you hover over an item it updates the status bar) that is buggering up the dragDrop.  If you turn that off it all works fine, like list mode.  I've been looking through the Qt source but can't figure it out, there is a bug in there somewhere.

But I fixed the other issue where it always copied in icon mode, regardless of CTRL modifier.

There is also a cursor bug with icon mode as it always shows the 'copy +' cursor indicating it is going to copy, regardless of CTRL modifier.  Ignore that, if CTRL is pressed it is a copy, if not it's a move.  In the other modes the cursor changes correctly.

I assign Alt+Enter shortcut to Property command but it doesn't work.  When I press Alt+Enter, it behaves like Enter by itself.  Is this a bug?

Looks like it doesn't like using 'Enter' in shortcuts.  I'd have to look at the source to see what its doing.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

I couldn't open by double clicking but found out it was a problem with xdg-open. Edited it on line 504 and instead of pcmanfm I put exo-open. Now doubleclicking works. This is a workaround and will not work in the long run, I guess. Any suggestions?

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Depends on what DE you use.  Isn't exo-open part of xfce? What's pcmanfm got to do with it, are your running lxde?  I thought you were using openbox DE'less.  I run DE'less and plain old xdg-open works fine.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Ooops! My bad. There is still 'starlxde' in my .xinitrc although I no longer run any lxde apps. Have to look into it and come back.

EDIT: there's a general problem with running lxde sessionmanager and xdg-open, expecially without pcmanfm. There are several ways around it. It really has nothing to do with Qtfm. After solving this unrelated xdg-open/lxde problem Qtfm runs really smooth!

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

qtfm 5.1
Clicking middle mouse button on a folder in the tree no longer opens a new tab.

--
Edit;
Also If in detailed list and the window is full of items. There is no place to right click for new folder. No way to get on empty space. Any possible fix? [Too annoying going for the top menu bar to create a folder each time].

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

A small quirk in qtfm 5.1; if using sorting by date and pasting new documents or folders, qtfm always scrolls down in the present view and you have to scroll to the top again.
