At first, I did this to be silly. And, then, I supposed that someone might actually like this and tune it to their taste. So here goes nothing:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml); @-moz-document domain("www.archlinux.org"), url-prefix("http://archlinux.org"), domain("wiki.archlinux.org"), domain("planet.archlinux.org"), domain("bugs.archlinux.org"), domain("repos.archlinux.org"), domain("aur.archlinux.org"), domain("projects.archlinux.org"){ body { background: pink !important; } #content { background: lightpink !important; } a:link { color: red !important; } a:visited { color: darkred !important; } .box { background: #FFDDDD !important; } #pkgsearch { background: #FF6666 !important; } }
You are an evil evil man!

... but glad to see no funky crap like all the other sites seem to be doing. (Wikipedia, Google, etc)
I second that!
Anyway, I really do think that the frontpage somehow should have links to The Arch Way and The Beginners Guide. It would make it easier for people interested in Arch Linux to find the information they need.

I prefer the old one.
Some prefer the old one, but that is always the issue with these kind of changes. People just have to get used to it. I like the way it is going, but it needs work on the edges. I'm not fond of the background color and the search box for packages gets too much attention. It should be integrated into some element somehow.

It feels somewhat unpolished - I can't put my finger on it what it is. But overall I like it.

nice work. Only the font is a bit small IMO.

I like the new look - good work.
But especially on small screens with high res the font really is small.

Folks, you can change the font size your browser is using. I have poor eyesight so I increase it on most pages anyway.

Ok, i just hooked up an extermal monitor (a crt, an old one) and it looks indeed slightly to the violet. Still, i like that color, and even if you don't like it, i can't see how reading black text on it would be hard..

I like the new design, the sidebar on the right is a bit weird though, feels like stuff was just crammed into it.
I haven't lost my mind; I have a tape back-up somewhere.

I really love this new look for the website !
It's a very good job

These sorts of redesigns are always fraught: you can never please everybody and any change is going to provoke a wide range of opinion, not always supportive.
To whoever is responsible (Thayer?): well done.
It refreshes the page look and remains true to the Arch way. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays across the other domains...

+1 for background change.
It really hurts eyes on 6500K CRT!

Love the new design. Can't wait till all parts of the site use it.

In the home page clicking the logo again takes back to the same page. imo this can be redirected to arch wiki.

I'd prefer an unclickable logo when you're on the homepage - what you're suggesting is totally counterintuitive and non-standard: when I click the logo I go to the homepage, not to the wiki, not to the 'About' page.

Looking at it again today, I really like the new layout as well. May need some fine-tuning, but the top bar is definitely an improvement. Package database and Download page look great too, and in the new layout "Packages" is integrated in the top bar, before you had to go -> Home -> Package Search. My personal thoughts:
- the purple "visited link" color sticks out a bit
- Package Search is still on top of the box, and archcon logo looks too big
- re background colour, maybe the "latest news" section and the side menu could also be box-wrapped with white background, like the "recent upgrades" and "welcome box" are. That would be the same as in the wiki page, and should fix the "eye sore" for the people seeing a purple background.

I love it too, finally the valuable space on the top is not wasted anymore. Cant wait for the forum update to make my stylish script obsolete:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@-moz-document domain("bbs.archlinux.org") {
#brdheader div.box { height: 80px !important; background: none !important; }
#brdmenu { top: 27px !important; }
#brdwelcome { padding-top: 49px !important; }
#main_nav { top: 1px !important; } }
