The last theme has had a huge effect on Arch user's themes. I wonder if we'll see a metamorphosis to match the new style?

Great change! Allthough I don't like the purple colour of visted forum threads/pages :$
+1, it really doesn't look good to have such strong colours for both visited and unvisited links.

looks good except for the wasted space at the top of the forum pages. adding a direct link to the package list is a good move.
now to get more descriptive descriptions in the list

Wow, the "Show new posts since last visit" is now very easy to find. Now we can even navigate the board totally drunk.

This new look is badass. Kudos!

For comparison between dmz's very nice (and darker) style
and my modified style based on Hrwa's userscript.org "dark forum" and "dark homepage" styles:
honestly i dont know why the arch homepage didnt go dark, it fits this style so well
[edit i know, duplicated post on both threads, but wanted to reach a wider audience ]

Looks very nice. More vibrant, stylish. More 2010 rather than 2006.

My absolute first impression is this redesign is awesome. I haven't explored yet, but upon seeing this totally unexpected (to me) new look atop the wiki, I jumped to the homepage to confirm my suspicion of a site wide update, and then jumped straight to the forums to comment. The new header area is what first caught my eye.
Love the new colors. I thought the last style while nice and clean was a bit too bland. Frankly, if I may say this without offending anyone, I didn't like the look much, especially in the forums. Somewhere in the back of my mind I'd been hoping for this but not really expecting it at all.
I really like the new color scheme with bolder contrasts. The color injection and style tweaking has really brought out and emphasized the cleanness of the layout.
I just found something odd though. There's not a single snapshot of the Arch site from 2009 on archive.org. There's been a sharply decreasing trend since 2006 when there was a whopping 259! Wonder what happened?
Anyway I heartily thank those who cooked up this new theme.

I love it. It really makes visited links pop - really distinguishes between threads I've looked at and haven't.
Also love the coloured code blocks and reply box. .

These are my least favourite things... but given I do nothing on the web-site front, my opinion does not count.

EDIT: Ah, never mind.
Btw, was the FluxBB software updated as well with the theme change?

I have to agree, it's similar to the news items on the front page, it reduces readability.
There should be a high contrast between text and background, and there are some color combinations for text/background that are more readable for others. For me, the chosen colors are low on the readability scale.
And please don't tell me to calibrate my monitor again. It shoudl not be a requirement for everyone who visits the Arch website to have a professionally calibrated monitor and great eyesight.
That said, I do appreciate the hard work that has been put into the website, please consider this constructive criticism.

In the forum the visited links color is a bit too different from the normal link colors, dont you think?

I have a feeling the colors aren't going to change.

Yellow is not an "Arch color" and it looks weird. Also, the "active" color for hyperlinks (i.e "a:active" in CSS) is orange which also falls into the "not an Arch color" category.
orange?? PICS needed mine is a violet like the one from the front page.
The violet is "a:visited" in CSS terms, what I'm talking about is "a:active" and it's an annoying orange (no pun intended) color.

Release the mouse button quickly after clicking on a link, you'll hardly notice that colour
I think that in some places, particularly inside posts, links should be underlined so they're easier to notice. In other places that are designated for navigation (breadcrumb area, etc) it's not as important.

Would it be possible to enclose the subform descriptions in a span or p (or similar) tag on the main page of the forums?
By that, I mean the descriptions such as "Issues regarding the forums and ArchWiki" ... that way I can get at them with CSS selectors.

tjwoosta has built a new user-style for the Arch site. It is not quite finished for the Wiki & AUR, but it looks great imho on them as well (still a bit bright on the AUR).
The code can be found here, (I don't think he will get pissed off with me pointing to his unfinished work):

I used to be surprised that I was still surprised by my own stupidity, finding it strangely refreshing.
Well, now I don't find it refreshing.
I'm over it!
