Uh "Gran Paradiso"? and Firefox icon

I installed Firefox 3 with pacman, no problems except that the firefox package didn't include the firefox icon. Plus When I started Firefox it said "Gran Paradiso" instead of "Firefox" in the titlebar.

In other words:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Firefox wrote:

Firefox is an open-source graphical web browser from Mozilla. The Firefox package in Arch Linux is compiled without official branding. This means that when you start Firefox it will use a blue globe for its icon and will be named after its release series' codename. This has to be done because a distribution may use the name "Firefox" and its artwork only if there are no unofficial modifications (i.e. no custom patches).

I see. Is there somewhere where I could download the firefox icon anyways? I'm trying to configure gnome for efficiency (I.E. not wasting time finding stuff), a blue globe won't make sense to me.

There is a branded package in AUR and a script to brand firefox in the archlinuxfr repo ([archlinuxfr] \\ Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686)

Depends on what you want.. Look at the packages in AUR and archlinuxfr, you can simply find them with the applicable search functions.

Got a yes, the next versions of mozilla firefox and thunderbird will include legal official branding. The changes we make to vanilla firefox and thunderbird are so small (and are only additions to their versions) that they don't care about it so much.

what happened in the last three years to change that ?

Re: Uh "Gran Paradiso"? and Firefox icon

oh, and firebrand for just replaced the icon, I'd prefer the "Gran Paradiso" to be changed too, exactly where and under what name can I get a officially branded firefox package (or if no packages exist, a PKGBUILD would be an acceptable , but not optimal compromise)

Not sure exactly, but I remember Mozilla policy being that anytime we added/removed a patch it would have to be ran by them to continue using their branding, which would be a lot of effort.

Re: Uh "Gran Paradiso"? and Firefox icon

I think we decided it was too much hassle to run everything by them, or we made changes that were more drastic than compatability patches (for instance, our firefox is linked against system libraries, drastically reducing the package size).

The suggestion box only accepts patches.

Re: Uh "Gran Paradiso"? and Firefox icon

the firebrand package in archlinuxfr repo changed the icon but not the name (but the version of it on the forums did the name)
