[Solved] pam_thinkfinger now requires pressing 'enter' after swipe?

I noticed after my weekly pacman -Syu (rebooted to pickup kernel-2.6.27.7-1 update) that whenever I try to use thinkfinger/fingerprint reader on my Thinkpad T61p, that I have to press enter in order for the fingerprint swipe to be accepted.

Any one else experiencing this?

I tried 'tf-tool --verify-user' and it doesn't require me to press enter. It just accepts the swipe as expected.

Searching around outside the Arch Fourms - Seems like the Ubuntu folks ran into the same issue -- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/256429

appears to be a hal issue (?)

Have the same issue here but the workaround from the bugreport doesn't work for me unfortunately.
Has anyone solved this issue ?

This should be fixed with version 0.3-2. I simply applied the ubuntu patch and it works fine here. Please report on http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12580 if you still encounter problems.

Isn't pam_fprint now the better option for fingerprint scanners?

On my thinkpad it seems to work better.

Re: [Solved] pam_thinkfinger now requires pressing 'enter' after swipe?

Hi,

I configure my fresh installed T60s with thinkfinger last week (using thinkfinger-0.3-1  package) and I have no problem at all.

But I discovered that the setup is different compare to wiki intructions.
xscreensaver udev configuration  as in http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Thi … creensaver doesn't work any more.

This is working:
Create /etc/udev/rules.d/##-thinkfinger.rules as described in:

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_en … creensaver

Then run command (as root)
"udevadm trigger"

"ls -la /dev/input/think*"

and you should see something like this:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     18 Dec 27 09:44 thinkfinger-4-2 -> ../bus/usb/004/003
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     12 Dec 27 09:44 thinkfinger-usbdev4.3 -> ../usbdev4.3
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     17 Dec 27 09:44 thinkfinger-usbdev4.3_ep00 -> ../usbdev4.3_ep00
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     17 Dec 27 09:44 thinkfinger-usbdev4.3_ep02 -> ../usbdev4.3_ep02
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     17 Dec 27 09:44 thinkfinger-usbdev4.3_ep81 -> ../usbdev4.3_ep81
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     17 Dec 27 09:44 thinkfinger-usbdev4.3_ep83 -> ../usbdev4.3_ep83

Just restart xscreensaver and you should now be able to unlock using thinkfinger

Re: [Solved] pam_thinkfinger now requires pressing 'enter' after swipe?

When I updated, via pacman -Syu, to thinkfinger-0.3-2 (along with some other updates) today this issue was resolved. Thanks!

I'm guessing this was the patch that resolved it - http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/t … iew=markup

Using thinkfinger 0.3-4 on a ThinkPad T61 still requires to press enter after finger swipe.

cviorel, please do not necrobump threads. This thread is more than 2 years old.
