Firefox and opera freeze after update.

Hi,
I updated he system last night and since then neither of firefox, firefox nightly or opera will play and video. I tried Cnn and Youtube. Both cause the browsers to freeze totally. It's not KDE because I also tried under E17 and it happens there as well.  Anyone got any ideas??

BTW, I run pacman Suy daily so it's some thing that was dropped into release yesterday.

Thanks

Is it only flash that you're having problems with, or all multimedia?  Seems like probably a problem with either flash or mplayer.

No Xiong. Radio stations streaming on Realplayer dont work as well.  It seems like all multi-media.

So, flash, mplayer and realplayer don't work.  They did until before yesterdays pacman -Suy.

Re: Firefox and opera freeze after update.

OK.  I tried loading x264-git but any video over the internet still freezes the browser (firefox and/or opera) I know that the x264 problem has been placed on the bug list but is there any way someone could tell me how to get around this?? Is there somewhere I can get the x264 that was there previously?  I cleaned my cache a few weeks ago so I don't have it on my machine??

Thanks

So the x264 doesn't be confirmed? I have the same probem: any flash video freeze the firefox, it is so boring

Re: Firefox and opera freeze after update.

There was an update yesterday to the kernel and mplayer that solved the problem. Try doing a pacman -Suy.

Re: Firefox and opera freeze after update.

My system is completely up to date and I'm using x264-git and I still have this problem.  Any other ideas?

Edit

Updated kernel 2.6.28.3-1 today(02/02/09) and the problem just disappeared.  Strange.  Perhaps a kernel rebuild is what does the trick?

Edit2:

Nevermind.  Happening again.

Edit3:

Ok fixed it finally.  Turned out i was missing some sound modules in rc.conf.  Used hwdetect to get the appropriate ones.

Re: Firefox and opera freeze after update.

I did an upgrade yesterday. I am not able to view flash videos. I followed this guide for multiple sound

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/All … nd_at_once

Have you guys got the issue solved??

Edit:
I was playing with the packages removing and installing them.. Somehow it got fixed. [:)]
