[SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

Well, the problem is that I can't do anything, and I think it is something with the X. I have it set to go directly to X instead of a virtual console, and it starts gdm to login. Well, then when I press anything from the keyboart, gdm (or all the X) restart, and I don't know why. I can't even type my user to enter and try to get a virtual console on boot hmm

It is really weird, and it may be a fault of misconfiguration...

EDIT: I'm just going to do a new clean Arch install hmm

You will need to paste the config files you used. Like /etc/inittab

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

The problem is that I can't access at all, if I stop X, gdm runs again and it happens in a loop.
Maybe, and just maybe, if I tried to access from a liveCD?

EDIT: I didn't configure much of the /etc/inittab, so I know mostly how it is:

    # Boot to console
    #id:3:initdefault:
    # Boot to X11
    id:5:initdefault:

    # Example lines for starting a login manager
    #x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/xdm -nodaemon
    x:5:respawn:/usr/sbin/gdm -nodaemon
    #x:5:respawn:/opt/kde/bin/kdm -nodaemon

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

At GDM, are you able to open a VC by pressing ctrl-alt F2?

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

You should edit the kernel options in grub, adding S to the kernel options. Then you will be asked your root password at startup, and then you will be a runlevel 2. Here you will be able to edit /etc/inittab to change the default runlevel to be able to investigate the problem.

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

@bones.77: I didn't think of so! Maybe it was because I didn't even know about it ^^U
@paulez: I don't think it will be needed because I can log to the virtual console ^^U

I'll try to upgrade the system and try again, if it doesn't work I'll try and generate a new Xorg configuration hmm
Thanks for the help!

EDIT: No one of the above worked; please, can someone help me? What should I do? I can do everything from command line, but not use Xorg, ask me for what you should need to see..

Oh man, I hate doing this, but I need help ;_; Bump.

It may be this because of Input Hotplugging? I swear I'm going to do a clean install again... xD

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

If you just want to start up GDM, why not simply add it into the DAEMONS array in the rc.conf file? You don't need to edit inittab at all. So I would suggest to revert back to the old inittab. Try that out and see if GDM behaves.

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

I don't believe it is that, because even if I start GDM (by tipying "gdm") from a virtual console, it still happen. I'll try to erase all the Gnome configuration, and see if so works...

Ungh.. Learning is somewhat tough.

Re: [SOLVED?] GDM crashes when using the keyboard

I am having similar problem. This is really inexcusable in my opinion to have such a bug. I installed arch64. Keyboard works, but like the earlier post, i launch gdm and keyboard cant' work either. Someone else has to have had similar issue. Please help and sorry for rant.

I can type in console mode, but at gdm, no luck.
