External VGA monitor without X

hi! im looking everywhere for a clue on how to use the external monitor connected to the VGA output, but with no X running, only the console (tty) because every now and hen i dont use X but i need to use the laptop lcd, and i'll like to use my giant lcd monitor smile

My ttys are displayed at every screen available. Without any options set at all regarding that.

weird... my experience tell me that that's not the default behaviour at all

Depending on the laptop, the VGA / Internal display is set using the BIOS and an FN-key combination AFAIK

yes, i suppose that within the station, all your laptop outputs get through the station, that way it works like a desktop, isnt it? but i find hard to accept that without X one can't use multiple monitors, there must be a way from the console that tells the system that the monitor output is /dev/vga1 i don't know or something like that, i see everything plugged in to the computer have a file created in /dev, maybe that's not the case, i mean with vga outputs
