kernel 2.6.22.6-1causes some apps to stop working

I updated the kernel the other night to the stock, pacman installed, 2.6.22.6-1 release. Rebooted and found apache and courier-imap both stopped working. After a lot of frustration I finally realised that it was probably the kernel causing the problem so reverted to 2.6.22.5-1 and everything started working again.

I don't know what the problem was but the symptoms were both apps ended up with forked processes running at 100% seemingly waiting for input from the network. The processes could not be killed and the machine had to be rebooted to clear them down.

I'm using standard hardware, no special drivers or modules, the kernel is the normal binary.

Has anyone else had problems with this release?

Ye, I got distracted on my way to marking that as solved, it is done now!

That was a really frustrating couple of days.
