hi i just installed arch and like it quite a lot so far...
one little nag though,
on bootup,
Hotsplug Start ----> cant load module pciehp. missing kernel or user mode driver pciehp..
this slows down bootup considerably...any suggestions..?
also..have kde 3.4 beta 2 packages been released for arch?
Thanks all!

Primo:
This is a known "bug", just add 'pciehp' to /etc/hotplug/blacklist. I wouldn't say that it slows bootup down, whole hotplug starts pretty long. The solution is to disable hotplug and load modules "manually" in rc.conf :-)

Welcome to Arch and enjoy your stay :-)

thank you very much...!
where can i get the list of modules i need to load individually instead of hotplug...do u mean things like usb-ohcd or sbp2 or whatever? i remember from my slack days that hotplug was initially pretty slow but became really fast when i updated to one of the latest current packages...also is it safe to disable "updating shared library links" (ldconfig i presume)???

"lsmod" will list all the modules you have loaded.

Try:
pacman -S hwd
hwd -s
hwd -h
It should come handy.
And I believe most of us here have ldconfig hashed out from rc.sysinit.

If you use lsmod to list loaded modules you can also use modinfo module_name to find out more information about them.
