i removed xfce form my laptop and i tried to created own DE based on thunar-git and openbox
i did.
sudo pacman -S thunar-git
resolving dependencies....
looking for inter-conflicts...
libxfce4util-git and libxfce4util are in conflict. remove libxfce4util? y
error: failed to prepare transaction.
xfconf requires :libxfce4util>=4.6.2
sudo pacman -Rscn xfconf
error :could not find or read package
i can not remove xfconf because there is not installed in sys but pacman still says it is.
locate shows some files when i type locate xfconf
but when i look for those files using mc i cant find them. there are not exist.
what i sopose to do?

thunar-git isn't in the repos, am I missing something obvious... how can pacman find it?

nevermind i reinstall arch. i had almost base group and some more packages after uninstall xfce.
No reinstalling xfconf and removing it after doesnt help

Did you run updatedb?
If so, which xconf related files were listed (I only get pktools, abs, and sync files listed which are basically pacman administration only)?
And after all, try to (re)install xfconf - however, this may still lead to conflicts with probably leftover xfce files, see "pacman -Si xconf".
Edit:
Some few minutes too late. Alas, it should not be necessary to reinstall Arch in such a case.
