udev for multi user system

Right now I am using Thunar Volume Manager, which uses HAL to automount USB drives.  It just started giving me some trouble so I am considering switching to Udev.  I read the wiki and it seems like you need root privilages to unmount the device, or you can specify a single user to unmount the device.  Has anyone found a good solution for automounting the device and letting any user unmount it?

Maybe use pmount to mount it? I've no idea if that works or not.
