Kernel 2.6.34 kernel panic - not syncing attempted to kill init.

Hi guys, I have my own compiled kernel which was fine with 2.6.33.1 (vanilla kernel),
but today after upgraded to 2.6.34 with the same configuration as 2.6.33.1, i cannot boot-up.
it says, kernel panic - not syncing attempted to kill init.

I searched forums, but nothing helped, i am with Nvidia card.
if someone could help with it?

THanks a lot

Have you rebuilt your initramfs? It might be a module missing to mount your / partition. If  this is the problem, as you used the same configuration I'd say it's not hard built in the kernel but included as module, and so it has to be loaded by the initramfs.

Thank you Ber for your reply, no, I thought I don't need initramfs image, as I never used it before.
it runs smoothly before upgrading to 2.6.24 without it, anyway  I will give a try to build an initramfs.
Many thanks

You don't need one if all your required drivers are built in the kernel (not as module)
